Description

RISK MATRIX is a Credit Risk reporting system. MATRIX project implements a cross

product credit risk engine based on a distributed processing architecture.

It calculates and reports CCEs, PFEs and EPEs (Current Credit Exposure, Projected Future

Exposure and Expected Positive Exposures) results using

Monte-Carlo simulation over various time points. Monte-Carlo methodology provides more

accurate credit reporting.

This system collects Counter party, Market data and trade information from various upstream

applications and values them against market data using matrix application server to generate

different types of reports. The output is then used by common server to generate the reports

for Credit Risk Controlling. The project involves providing maintenance and production

support to MATRIX system.

Matrix collects different Trade Feeds from various sources, convert the trades from flat files

into Matrix format, generate scenarios for valuing the trades and value the trades against the

scenarios generated using Vallib/dbAnalytics libraries.

Matrix architecture is designed for full trade valuations with 1000 scenario paths across 55

time points (1 day to 30 years+). Each trade is valued against each scenario to produce a

matrix of 55,000 valuations. The Trade Feeds run on Linux servers and load the trades into

the Oracle Database. A pool of Valuation, Trade and Scenario server Processes runs across 80

Linux machines to valuate and aggregate about 1700K trades daily. The reports are stored in

database report tables, providing access to the users to check the data and provide signoff

before being loaded into downstream systems.
