1. Develops quality inspection procedures, including sampling plans, for
production-level components and finished devices. Supports Quality
Assurance inspection in the performance of quality inspection and
testing, including development of inspection fixtures.
As a QAR I plan my own surveillance strategies including the sampling
plan and the level of inspection required. I also approve the
contractor's inspection plans.
2. Interprets engineering documents and has CCB responsibilities.
As a QAR I interpret engineering documents on a daily basis.
Interpreting drawings is one of the classes required for certification
as a QAR. I have been a member of CCB's as the customer
representative. When I was at EM Systems I was the QA member of the
CCB.
3. Contributes to product/process qualification, verification, and
validation. Provides input regarding appropriate statistical methods,
test methodologies, test facilities, and test equipment.
Over the years I have been responsible to oversee the qualification of
many products and processes. I have qualified many vendors including
test facilities.
4. Evaluates and recommends suppliers, supports the approved vendors
list, monitors supplier performance, and initiates corrective actions,
as required
When I was at EM Systems I designed the approved vendors list,
including keeping it up to date. I am very familiar with corrective
actions and keeping on top of them.
5. Maintains and works to company procedures. Reviews procedures to
ensure adequacy for conformance to business and Quality System
requirements.
As a QAR I follow Government procedures. When I was at EM Systems I
rewrote the QA manual to upgrade the company from MIL-I to MIL-Q
6. Investigates suspected nonconforming materials and manages Material
Review Board (MRB) activities.
I have spent many years as the customer representative on the MRB. I
was the chairman of the MRB at EM Systems.
7. Interfaces with customer / government representatives on
defense/aerospace programs.
As I have been a Government representative for over thirty years I
have an in-depth knowledge of what the customer / government
representatives are looking for.
8. Performs and documents product complaint investigations.
Investigating customer complaints are a normal part of being a QAR.
9. Conducts internal audits, as assigned.
I have many years experience performing audits within a company.
10. Ensures that all tasks are conducted in accordance with Quality System
procedures.
Verifying that all tasks have been performed is basic to a QAR's job.
11. Interprets statements of work (SOW) and military standards with
experience in FAR clauses and DD250s.
As a QAR I must interpret the statement of work so that I can assure
that the contractor is performing to the contract. I have over thirty
years experience in military standards and the FAR. I am regularly
called on to show our own contracts people what the FAR actually
requires.
I was the Sacramento area instructor for DD250s; I am also a lead
person in teaching contractors to use the new electronic DD250's (wide
area workflow).
