Principal Systems Engineer April 2012 - Present

Lockheed Martin, Center for Innovation, Suffolk, VA

Chief Engineer reporting directly to the Director for Operations and Vice President and responsible for Center’s operational system

architecture and technical infrastructure.

Lead and provide guidance from a technical roadmap perspective to the entire staff of engineers, IT and audio/video technicians.

This includes design, procurement and execution efforts for regular and frequent capital improvement project, Internal Research and

Development (IRAD) projects. Provide technical oversight and leadership to any and all experiments, events or demonstrations.

Manage internal work transfer agreements to achieve correct skills / talent mix. Regularly build and maintain relationships with

Lockheed Martin customers, business areas and corporate organizations to integrate products, solutions and systems.

Overall fiscal responsibility is between $1 million and $5 million yearly.

Specific responsibilities include configuration management, program planning and management, and cross functional team

coordination and leadership.

Senior Staff Systems Architect January 2011 – April 2012

Lockheed Martin, Mission Systems and Training, Hampton, VA

Provided leadership and innovation to develop and recommend new, improved ways to conduct design, development, and testing of

various US Navy (USN) Surface Combatant and Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN) combat system products. Developed product

and processes for other teams to follow to achieve technical goals and realize cost / schedule savings on various projects.

Developed a business case to achieve the vision for an Open Architecture approach for development of the Trident Strategic

Weapon System (SWS) Navigation Subsystem.

Authored the LM MST answer to MH-60R Sample Problem for Vehicle Control Integration on the winning bid for the Aegis Combat

System Engineering Agent Proposal.

Coordinated a team consisting of Mission Systems and Training (MST) engineers from Moorestown, Syracuse, Hampton and

Owego as well as engineers from Raytheon and USN to actively and collaboratively work with USN and participate in working group

activities to develop behavior models, data models, requirements and architecture to realize several components within the USN

customer’s Product Line Architecture for Combat Systems.

Senior Staff Systems Engineer March 2007 – January 2011

Lockheed Martin, Mission Systems and Training, Hampton, VA

Participated in team leadership roles on several programs (e.g. Aegis, Littoral Combat Ship, DDG 1000, Deepwater) and IRAD

projects for geographically disperse teams of systems and software engineers ranging in size from 5 to 20. Responsible for regular

communication, coordination and interface with technical, functional and program managers and management staff. Led the

technical aspects of integration projects during all phases of the system development life-cycle.

Responsible for all aspects of design, development, integration, test and delivery of the Asset Control Software Component on the

DDG 1000 Program. Developed project schedule and plan, implemented a new OOA&D design and requirement specification

process. Led a geographically disperse team of 15 system engineers and software engineers to successfully complete

development of software requirements, product software, integration, testing and delivery into the DDG 1000 combat system.

Worked as acting engineering manager for the LM MST organization located in Hampton, VA. Managed office activities and

personnel matrixed to various projects.

Established and led a cross-MST Integrated Product Team (IPT) of system and software engineers responsible for various aspects

of MH-60R integration into the Aegis Combat System. Responsible for leading efforts to initiate the integration of MH-60R within

current and future combat system efforts. Guided system and software architecture and requirements across various programs and

lines of business while developing product evolution plans. Guided IRAD development to advance the product to support anticipated

future customer needs and requirements.

Staff Systems Engineer June 2003 – March 2007

Lockheed Martin, Mission Systems and Training, Hampton, VA

Responsible for developing a process within Rational Rose for Systems of Systems architecture decomposition using UML, RUP

and Rational Rose. Led the DDG 1000 Command Control and Intelligence (C2I) National Team Architectural Model development

which became basis for Architecture Description Document development.

Led team during LCS program startup, immediately following program capture. Directed the team regarding requirements of the

project and quickly trained a junior engineer to take on lead position as program matured.

Developed schedules, plans and performed as Lead System Engineer for a team of approximately 25 system and software

engineers consisting of Lockheed Martin and Lockheed Martin contract personnel to visualize, design, develop and test an Operator

Support Application Framework (OSAF) designed to support various projects and programs within the MST portfolio.

Systems Engineer November 2002 – June 2003

Communication Technologies, Newport News, VA

Worked as an on-site subcontractor supporting the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Project at Northrop Grumman in

Newport News, VA. Responsible for submitting and obtain waiver approval for requirement compliance. Researched and evaluated

requirements management tools. Recommended tools and associated requirements management process to achieve CMMI Level

3. Developed the GCCS 3.x to GCCS 4.x transition deployment plan for the Common Operational Picture (COP) applications.

Senior Systems Engineer April 2001 – November 2002

Led a team of approximately 18 System and Software Engineers to analyze requirements and develop Command and Control

system integration concepts. Responsible for the integration of various carrier based command and control applications (e.g. CEC,

SSDS, GCCS-M, CV-TSC, NTCSS) into the CVN-77 Integrated Warfare System.

Responsible for the development of Aegis Display System schedules, requirements, testing and installation at all land and sea-

based test sites to successfully achieve Operational Evaluation (OPEVAL) for Cooperative Engagement Capability within the Aegis

Display System on the Aegis Baseline 6 Phase I Program. Led a team of systems and software engineers in conducting Aegis

Display System computer program land-based testing at the Aegis Combat System Engineering Development Site in Moorestown,

NJ and the Surface Combat Systems Center in Wallops Island, VA as well as at-sea testing on various Aegis class cruisers and

destroyers.

Member Engineering Staff August 1996 – December 2000

Performed integration and testing as well as verification and validation of requirements and computer program installation on the

Aegis Japanese J3 Program as well as the USN Baseline 6 Phase I Program. This role included land based testing at the Aegis

Combat System Engineering Development Site in Moorestown, NJ, the Surface Combat Systems Center in Wallops Island, VA as

well as shipboard installation and checkout of Aegis Display System computer programs on several USN and Japanese Aegis Class

ships.
