RYAN BECRAFT, P.E.
Structural Engineer
Christiana Promenade Bridge Design, New Castle County, DE, (Private Developer)
Structural Engineer for the design of two, simple span, prestressed concrete girder bridges spanning wetlands
conforming to DelDOT Standards. Work included design of the superstructure and substructure components,
quantity calculations, and plan preparation. Completed final construction plans, specifications, and engineer’s cost
estimate in May, 2014.
Christina River Bridge, Wilmington, DE, DelDOT
Structural Engineer for the foundation type study and preliminary design of a 470’, 3 span, skewed, prestressed,
haunched, concrete girder bridge. The main span of the bridge is 180’ long and utilizes a post tensioned spliced
concrete girder to reduce girder depth to allow for adequate clearance over the navigable channel. The study was
completed in September, 2013.
Delaware River and Bay Authority, Bridge 6 Design, New Castle, DE
Structural Engineer for the superstructure design and detailing of a 7-span steel plate girder overpass structure at
the I-295 approaches to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The bridge consists of 7 simple spans, on large skews
varying between 30 degrees and 60 degrees. The existing substructure is being reused for this project so careful
consideration had to be given to the girder layout and framing plan. Submitted PS&E package to DRBA in
February, 2014.
Delaware River and Bay Authority, Bridge 6 Study, New Castle, DE
Structural Engineer for the analysis of alternatives for rehabilitation or replacement of an existing 7-span steel
plate girder overpass structure at the I-295 approaches to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Structural analysis was
performed to determine the adequacy of the existing steel girders as well as the existing foundation. An
investigation into the use of Link Slabs on this bridge was also completed. Cost estimates were generated for each
alternative. A final recommendation was provided to DRBA in October, 2013.
Delaware River and Bay Authority Sign Structure Analysis and Design, New Castle County, DE
Structural Engineer for the fatigue and strength analysis of cantilevered and overhead sign structures located at the
I-295 approaches to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The structures were analyzed for an increase in sign panel
area to determine which signs will need to be replaced to incorporate the larger sign area. Work also included the
final design and plan preparation of 18 new cantilever and overhead sign structures. Submitted PS&E package to
DRBA in February, 2014.
Maryland SHA Bridge Load Ratings
Structural Engineer for the load rating analysis of 12 steel girder bridges and 3 concrete box culverts throughout
Maryland. LFR load ratings were performed in accordance with MD SHA policies and the AASHTO Manual for
Bridge Evaluation. Submitted Final Load Rating Summary to MD SHA in January, 2013.
Baltimore County, Maryland Load Ratings
Structural Engineer for the load ratings of 33 bridges and culverts. Structure types include metal and concrete
pipe culverts, a concrete rigid frame, filled concrete arches, and prestressed concrete box beams. LFR load ratings
performed in accordance with Baltimore County policies, MD SHA policies and the AASHTO Manual for Bridge
Evaluation. Submitted Final Load Rating Summary and documentation to Baltimore County in August, 2013.
