PROFILE

My name is Alana Herbert I am 18 years of age and currently studying

childcare at University College of Birmingham.

My aim is to become a child psychotherapist, as I am very interested in

what makes the mind work.

I am hard working, reliable, trustworthy and very ambitious. I enjoy

keeping fit, walking and socialising.

I also enjoy working as a team.

EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

As part of my college course, I have a placement, working with children,

for 2 days per week. I have worked in a school environment with reception

and nursery children. Also I have worked in a private nursery with babies.

During these work placements I have learnt quite a few skills such as

communication, interpersonal skills, punctuality and responsibility.

Whilst caring for children, at placement, my tasks include helping the

children to read, develop their fine motor skills, co-ordination, and

physical education. Whilst working in the private nursery I help prepare

the food for the children, making sure it was the correct temperature.

Part of my responsibility was to meet and greet the parents and to work in

partnership with the teachers, preparing activities for the children to

participate, whilst in class. I was also included in staff meetings.

I have volunteered to help out with a local charity organisation, Animal

house rescue, raising money at a local supermarket.
