Lab Experience

. Magnetic Particle: recognize how material defects disrupt magnetic

fields, execute the mathematical operations that are important in the

magnetic particle test method and follow basic industrial safety rules

particularly relevant to magnetic particle testing

. Liquid Penetrant: value which types of defects Penetrant Testing is

most practical for, identify the relevance and economics of the method

including an appreciation of pre and post cleaning and the impact on

execution time.

. Ultrasonic Testing Level 1: perform and verify basic calibrations,

produce angle beam plotting overlay, utilize DAC curves, complete

thickness checks, inspect various test specimens and weld samples

using normal and angle beam probes.

. Ultrasonic Testing Level 2: execute inspections according to

procedures, complete calibration tests including horizontal and

vertical linearity, angle beam determination, beam index verification,

resolution checks, identify necessary ASME and CSA W59 calibration

blocks and carry out contact and immersion performance tests using DAC

curves.

. Eddy Current: explain the principles and operating characteristics of

Eddy Current probes/scopes in addition to analyzing their limitations,

interpret indications for different types of tests and express the

influences of defect position, ambient temperatures and specimen

geometry.
