Professional Objective - A manufacturing engineering technical position
requiring a high level of detail, creativity and consistency in creating
and maintaining manufacturing and supplier specifications.
Experience
July 1974 to October 2013
Raychem Corporation (1974-2001), Tyco Thermal Controls (2001-2012 and
Pentair Thermal Management (2012-2013)
Technical Associate III - Product Engineering (20 years)
Assisted Product Engineers with product documentation and qualification
tests.
. Created and maintained accurate, detailed, Pro-Engineer 3D CAD
models, engineering drawings and purchase specifications.
. I periodically worked with the marketing illustrator (MARCOM) to write
clear, accurate, and easy to follow product installation instructions.
. I was a voluntary member of the internal ISO 9001 audit team.
. I supported the company safety program by submitting Make It Safe
requests for potential hazardous occurrences and I conducted lab
safety audits.
. I repeatedly conducted successful qualification tests for Approval
Agency and ISO 9001 auditors, helping the company maintain its ISO
9001 and Approval Agency Lab Certifications.
. I served as a member on the Emergency Response Team for several years.
. I maintained accurate, legible, detailed laboratory notebooks and test
reports.
. Worked with an outside calibration agency (PMI) to send Product
Engineering lab equipment out to be calibrated. There were no negative
findings during the five years that I was responsible for calibration.
Technical Associate I, II, III - Manufacturing Engineering (11 years)
. I accurately calculated ( 2%) labor costs for Component Plant at
re-cost time.
. I worked with Management to have the Marketing Department produce
product installation instructions using computer graphics instead
of film photography so they could be printed in-house as they are
needed, reducing scrap and lead times.
. I made modifications to product tooling to improve our plants
manufacturing capabilities. The changes also reduced the
potential for employees to become injured due to repetitive
motion operations, saving the company thousands of dollars per
year in labor costs and significantly reducing lead times.
. I converted engineering drawings to purchase specifications where
applicable, reducing the need to maintain a detailed drawing for
every nut, bolt and washer placed in our kits.
. I converted confusing, text only, manufacturing instructions into
detailed assembly drawings to help reduce rework and confusion in
the plant.
. I researched and justified the purchase of several pieces of
manufacturing equipment such as the tube cutter, heating cable
cutting and stripping equipment, box label applicator and screw
feed equipment. The equipment significantly reduced labor costs in
the plant and made the work easier and safer for the employees.
. I successfully took over the component plant scheduling job for
three months when an employee suddenly became ill and had to go
out for surgery.
. I traveled to Los Angeles, Boston and Wisconsin to help conduct
supplier audits, to ensure existing and potential suppliers had
adequate manufacturing and quality procedures in place.
Coordinator I, II (2 years) - worked as an assistant to the component
manufacturing Engineer.
Assembler III Lead (2 years) - was lead worker and scheduler for the OEM
plant until the product line and manufacturing equipment was moved to
Puerto Rico. I then became lead worker in the Component Plant.
Assembler I, II, III in Waterbed and OEM departments (4 years) -
soldering, operated crimping equipment, sonic welders, laminating
equipment and punch presses.
1971 - 1974
GT & E Lenkurt - soldering, assembled small transformers, operated pre-
form equipment for PC board components and part time work in the store
room.
1970
California Candle Co. (less than 1 year) - Assembly worker
Lanai and Villa in San Mateo (less than 1 year) - Photographer
1969 - 1970
Raychem Wire and Cable (6 months) - Assembly worker in spooling area
1968 - 1969
Colusa County Hospital (1 year) - Nurses aide
1961-1969
