Core Accomplishments
Project Management:
Started a project, from Project Planning through to execution, on Blasting close to
sensitive structures in Large Open pit mines. This saved Millions of US$ in relocation
costs for structures around the pit.
Introduced Reverse Circulation (RC) Drilling in a Low Grade deposit to improve the
results of the Dynamic Resource Model in predicting Nickel Grade and Ore Tonnes in
the Mining Blocks. This greatly improved the ability to Forecast Nickel Production, and
hence better business planning.
Operations and Cost management:
Improved Mining Operational efficiency through the introduction of Vehicle Monitoring and
Dispatch system at Orapa and Letlhakane Mines and at Tati Nickel Mining Company. This
resulted in huge cost savings in terms of reduced Loading cycle time, reduced Hauling cycle
time, improved Tyre life, Drilling Consumables costs, and reduced Fuel costs.
Safety, Occupational Health and Environment:
Improved Safety record at Orapa Mine and at Tati Nickel through monthly
Departmental Safety campaigns. This also reduced cost of equipment downtime due
to Accident damage.
People Management and Team Building:
Introduced concept for raising funds to celebrate Team member Birthdays and to build team
morale.
