WORK EXPERIENCE
ESIS Workers' Compensation. Claims Representative, 2013
Managed caseload of up to 180 workers' compensation claim files, including
such aspects as indemnity and medical expense reserving, disability
management, litigation, subrogation, and medical treatment authorization.
Conducted initial investigations of employers, injured workers, and medical
providers to determine compensability of claims. Processed Medicare Set-
Aside allocation and structured settlement requests through preferred
vendors. Collaborated with employers, injured workers, attorneys,
physicians, and nurse case managers to facilitate appropriate action plans
to bring each claim to resolution. Identified potentially fraudulent
claimant activity and reported to specialized investigative units for fraud
detection and deterrence. Negotiated cost-effective settlement of claims
with opposing parties including applicant attorneys, injured workers, and
lien claimants.
LEADERSHIP

Presided as chair at all chapter meetings and chief fiscal officer.
Represented the chapter at the National, Regional, and State level.

Volunteer five-week program. Led activities and discussions pertaining to
topics found interesting and helpful to first year students transitioning
to a college atmosphere.
Multicultural Education. Facilitator, Fall 2009
Facilitated group discussions of awareness exercises with University
students in Education-Leadership, Foundations, and Policy (EDLF) on topics
surrounding the many facets of discrimination. Responsible for reading and
responding to weekly reflections and papers of assigned group members
(approximately 10) as well as providing peer leadership to fellow
facilitators and their students.
ACTIVITIES
Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Assistant Director Search
Committee. Member, Fall 2011- Spring 2012
Entrusted by the University to serve on a committee to hire a University
staff member after completing Equal Opportunity of Programs training.
Process consisted of reviewing hiring goals, assessing resumes from the
hiring pool, phone interviews, in person interviews, and official hiring of
University staff member.
Peers Encouraging Academic Responsibility and Leadership Success
(P.E.A.R.L.S.) Tutor/mentor, 2010- present
Structured volunteer program developed by the Kappa Rho Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta in which sorority members serve as "lunch buddies" to at-risk
2nd and 4th graders with the goal to motivate students, enhance their
reading skills, and reinforce good study habits.
Peer Advisor Program. Advisor/mentor, 2010- 2011
Worked closely with the University's Office of African American Affairs to
provide mentorship services (resources, support, counseling) to incoming
African American students.
Camp Kesem. Counselor, Summer 2010
Student-run summer camp; Supervised and mentored children with a parent who
has (or has had) cancer. Prepared and facilitated scheduled events to
ensure an atmosphere in which children could bond with their peers, create
friendships, and have fun in this week long, overnight camp.
Young Women Leaders Program. Big Sister, 2009-2010
Served as a big sister in a voluntary mentoring program at a local middle
school, encouraging young girls to increase their self-esteem and engage in
skill-building activities to build competence, connection, and autonomy.
University of Virginia Women's Crew Team. Novice member, Fall 2009
ACC Division Walk-on student athlete competed for one of the nation's best
women's crew teams.
