Regional IT Services Director, Sykes Latin America & Spain. 2007- 2013
Provided technology, vision and leadership for Latin America to increase client satisfaction
under always-innovative schemes, implementing cost reduction alternatives and
transforming IT department into an actual service-oriented organization. Established
standards to ensure consistent and uniform IT services. Expanded to new locations in
Costa Rica, Brazil and Colombia. Regional maintenance contract negotiations with
significant cost reductions. Served as Project Manager for initiatives to add services to
specific customers while increasing satisfaction and revenues.
Senior IT Consultant, European Union. 2005 – 2007
W orked as a Senior IT Consultant for the European Union assigned to Costa Rican
Government in order to strengthen and decentralize municipal governments. Designed a
secure network linking all local governments in Costa Rica, offering added services like
collaborative work environments and VoIP telephony. Designed an integrated Web Portal,
supporting e-Government initiatives.
Senior ICT Consultant, United Nations – FAO. 2004 – 2005
Designed an information system for promoting and transferring technological innovations to
small and medium-sized organized producers in Costa Rica using Web-based applications
and Virtual Private Networks to interconnect various locations. FAO later exported solution
developed here to Bhutan, which won “Costa Rica green and smart” award in 2013.

IT Director, DOLE Standard Fruit Co. de Costa Rica, S.A. 1996-2003.
IT director for Dole companies in Costa Rica. Improved utilization of information for
supporting business decisions [Intranet implementation linked to JD Edwards’ ERP], as well
as some performance improvement projects through the use of technology, adding value to
the business organization within a limited budget. Installed wireless data backbone linking
remote sites, using VoIP and “trunking” radio systems for added functionality and costs
savings.
IT Manager, DOLE Standard Fruit of Honduras. 1992-1996.
Regional IT Manager (Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua) Directed Re-Engineering
effort, hardware and software standardization, installation of JDEdwards’ ERP and
supporting infrastructure. Also responsible for the Communications Department, with
projects such as the integration of voice and data communications, linking different
locations using fiber optic, wireless communications and dedicated lines. IT high-
performance team created. Operating budget reduction of 50% while enhancing service.
Operations and Programming Manager, DOLE Fresh Fruit International, Ltd. 1990-
1992. San José, Costa Rica. Successful relocation of DOLE Latin American headquarters to
Costa Rica, with no downtime. Recruiting, coaching and leading technical personnel.
Implemented computer network hardware, software and international telecommunications.
Assisted preparing RFP specifications for Regional JD Edwards’ ERP implementation, later
chosen by Corporate Office as worldwide standard.
