NOC Manager of our Bangalore team ( Live in Miami Florida ).
Livestream, 12/2011 to 09/2012
. Took a team of 8 individuals with a low perception of the company and
turned it completely around within 2 months.
. Since the company did not have any documentation as well as little to
no knowledge sharing, I had the team create a wiki, with a shared
knowledge base of all the processes the team had to manage and
monitor.
. Went from an email based reporting ( html format in email ) to using
the fresh desk ticketing system. This made tracking the NOC activities
a breeze.
. Had the NOC integrate our monitoring systems with the ticketing
system. This allowed me to have better insight into the amount of
alerts the team was getting and how long it took to rectify the issues
at hand.
. Begun to train the NOC in the Python scripting languages. So this can
further their technical skills for the company as well as for there
future endeavors.
. Manage the team schedules.
. In charge of reviewing the each member of the team.

. Replaced Syslog-Ng with Splunk Enterprise. This allowed our developers
as well as the operations team to find issues that we were not aware
of before.
. Deployed Active Batch v7 into Production. We replaced all of our cron
jobs with ActiveBatch. This allowed us to monitor all of our batch
jobs using email and snmp.
. Redesigned our Zenoss Enterprise monitoring environment. I was able to
bring down our 100+ email/alerts a day to about less than 10 a day. I
added more out of the box monitoring by creating various Python
scripts.
. I integrated Splunk and Active Batch alerts into Zenoss. Now we do not
have 3 different systems alerting, just Zenoss.
. Managed our systems completely with VMware ESX 3.5 and Virtual Center.
. Configure, Monitor, and Manage our 3par SAN Arrays.

. Completely redesigned how all of our systems were managed.
. Designed our Cfengine implementation and deployed it to all of our
RHE4/5 systems.
. Managed our entire RedHat infrastructure and our PXE KickStarts using
RedHat Satellite Server
. Designed a custom Configuration Management Database for our
environment. This database contains every device we have on our
network, as well as specifics of each device.
. Created custom python scripts to hook our Cfengine implementation and
CMDB, which allowed use of Cfengine in a more dynamic fashion.
. Created a custom command in python for our CMDB, which allowed
commands to be run against any of our servers based on
cluster/device/site/project. In this command, I implemented threading,
which allowed the running of a command in 1 to 2 seconds flat against
150 to 200 servers.
. Using TurboGears I created a front end to our CMDB. This front end
allowed add/search/delete/edit devices from our CMDB.
. Redesigned our monitoring using Zenoss.
. Created custom python scripts to sync out Zenoss from our Netscalers
and our CMDB
. Managed and Maintained our SAN/NAS infrastructure which consisted of
Fiber connected 3PAR's and Onstor NAS gateways.
