Currently working as a Datacenter Head for with BSES (Bombay Sub-Urban Electrical Supply) a subsidiary of

BOARD

Reliance Energy since November 2006 and responsible for the datacenter that supports Operations and

• New Datacenter Creation

• Server Virtualization

My duties/achievements in the present scenario include

• Managing all Servers and Storages in the Data Center which are currently forty in number ranging from Windows 2000, Windows

2003, Linux to Solaris.

• The applications running on them range from VB,ASP.NET, ASP, HTML pages, Interactive Voice Response Server catering to Call

Center of the Electricity Department, Attendance, Fax Applications, Anti Virus Server and WSUS (Windows Server Update Server),

Oracle Forms, Oracle Database.

• Managing and administering SAN and NAS storages having data over 20 TB in size.

• Design and implementation a new backup site.

• Support to existing applications and infrastructure.

• Predict, plan, decide and deploy datacenter infrastructure to support business continuity.

• Firmware up gradation on SAN and NAS storages.

• Tuning of applications for better and faster client responses.

• Security implementation inside the data center, which includes Identification of unwanted services on various servers and stopping

them at server/firewall level.

• Troubleshooting of applications running at client end from the server, which may include database connection problem or any other

system problem.

• Maintenance of around forty servers, which includes scheduling backups and creating redundancies of all servers in case of system

failures.

• Network load balancing by teaming of ethernet cards.

• Taking Ghost backup of servers and restoring them on similar machines.

• Backups scheduled through Windows Backup Utility.

• Vmware Administration.

• Implementation of VMWare.

• Management of systems and applications on the ESX servers.

• Management of NAS (Network Attached Storage).

• Consolidation of Applications on the Central Server instead of running on different independent machines.

• Implementation and maintenance of Visual Source Safe.

• IIS configuration.

• Deployment of Windows patches on Windows Servers without exposing the server to the Internet.

• Monitoring of system performance and analyzing peak load hours.

• Deployment of applications in the production environment developed in Visual Basic, .NET, ASP, Forms 6i and 9i after successful

testing in the testing environment.

• Taking care of the Data Center like monitoring of temperature, looking into possible fire hazards and removing them.

• Training given to colleagues about the fire system installed in the data center and steps to take in case of a fire occurs.

• Oracle and D2K installations at remote ends.

• Ensuring latest anti virus pattern is present on all the servers and in case not present, corrective action is taken.

• Implementation and daily review of motion based recording and access control in the data center.

• Implementation of Meter Cycle Reading Module for

• Meter Readers for Electronic as well as Electro Mechanical Meters.

• Testing of Software by creating test cases. Only manual testing was done.

• Coordination between development, testing and field team so as to keep them in sync about the changes being done and to be

implemented.
