CAREER HISTORY.

Support worker.

I am at present a support worker in a residential home for the elderly and

vulnerable, i have worked there for 3 years,

I am trained to level NVQ level 3 social care.

My responsibilities include,

personal care,including supporting people with continence problems, always

considering there feelings and maintaining there dignity.

Medication administration,

Supporting with people with physical disabilities, using all the relevant

moving and handling equipment.

I am able to support clients during meals if they have difficulty eating or

drinking, i have experience with clients who suffer from dysphagia.

I am able to support people who are challenging due to there condition, eg

dementia, acquired brain injury.

I am able to follow person centered care plans that are sometimes complex,

i am expected to keep accurate records for clients adhering to our

confidentiality policy,

I liaise with other professionals on a daily basis on behalf of the residents,eg

district nurses GP,s community matrons, family members.

I am able to adapt to change and work under pressure i can take

responsibility and make decisions as an individual if necessary, i work shifts

and weekends.

I started working at Royley house in Royton in January 2009 and i am still

employed there now, before i started being a support worker at Royley house

i worked at powerplay in Royton being a receptionist in 2008 i was there 2

years then i wanted to become a support worker and wanted to do my health

and social care Nvqs.
