PERSONAL INFORMATION
Drive, Enthusiasm and Vigour are the main qualities which enabled me to
achieve my Post Graduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher
Status specialising in Early Years. Prior to this qualification, I gained
an Honours Degree in Education preceded by Foundation Degree in Early
Years, both of which I gained whilst working full time in a Children's
Centre Nursery within a high area of deprivation.
Over the last nine years I have embraced a passionate commitment to my
Continued Professional Development, developing and maintaining high
professional standards, and achieving a number of professional goals. This
in turn has enabled me to gain a vast amount of knowledge regarding the
Early Years Foundation Stage, contributing to my success both as a Student
Teacher, Supply Teacher and recently in my role as Year 2 Teacher covering
maternity leave.
Experience
As an experienced Early Years practitioner, I have extensive working
knowledge of the Foundation Stage Curriculum which I believe takes a
holistic approach to child development and values each child as an
individual. Within my current workplace, I am currently on secondment in a
Year 2 Class Teacher role which ends this week. I have also worked across
all areas of Key Stage 1 whilst on Supply Teaching and been given positive
feedback on planning and delivery of lessons and effective communication
with children, parents and colleagues.
Building strong two-way relationships with parents can be fundamental to
children's identity, self-esteem and psychological well-being, and also
provide the communication necessary for safe guarding children. To ensure
parent partnership is encouraged I believe in the importance of regular
feedback to parents on pupils' progress. Providing them with written and
verbal information on current topics encourages them to be part of their
child's learning journey and can result in valuable information being
shared with peers. This in itself provides valuable opportunities for
Communication, Language and Literacy circle times, which encourages
children to become confident speakers and effective listeners.
Knowledge and Understanding
I am confident at planning and delivering creative and challenging lessons
across the curriculum for Foundation and Key Stage 1 pupils. I am always
keen to ensure that learning activities are rich and varied, allowing
children to make effective progression in all areas. I have a good
understanding of the National Curriculum and programmes of study for Key
Stage 1 and during my Year 2 placement in an EAL school, was introduced to
the new primary framework for Literacy and Numeracy and successfully
planned and assessed accordingly. Within the workplace I have provided
formative and summative assessment of pupils working progress. Through
assessing the children I have been able to set targets providing accurate
and effective assessment for learning in order for pupils to progress and
achieve their full potential.
In promoting equal opportunities and inclusion, I value the importance of
diversity and ensure that children have an awareness of their background
and culture providing opportunities to extend their learning through books,
displays and costumes. A firm believer in outdoor classrooms, I enjoy
taking advantage of all opportunities to support learning in this
environment. I also effectively incorporate ICT into daily planning as
opposed to using solely as a separate identity. I am confident in the use
of whiteboards and various programmes and have also used activates both as
a plenary and form of assessment.
I feel my previous supply roles have demonstrates both flexibility and
adaptability as I effectively met the needs of pupils from a variety of
backgrounds whilst adhering to a variety of school policies. It also
allowed me to build on positive behaviour strategies and value
opportunities of working with challenging behaviour and supporting
children's needs across the spectrum which I now build upon in my current
position.
Alongside working knowledge of the Children Act and Child Protection
procedures, I have a deep understanding and commitment to the 'Every Child
Matters' agenda and realise the necessity of building mutual trust in order
for children to feel safe in the school environment. Through demonstrating
sensitivity in all situations and allowing children to feel valued,
understood and cared for, I believe children grow in self confidence and
self esteem, enhancing effective learning.
I believe that my creative interest and flexible approach combined with my
child care experience in all sectors will enhance the teaching and learning
of all within my care. My high expectations and excellent work ethic
alongside my enthusiasm, happy outlook and caring manner would make me a
valuable member of any team and I look forward to discussing my application
further.

through my enthusiasm for the outdoor classroom and my ability to enhance

believe it can play an important part in sustaining children's interests on
a daily basis.
I have also developed a real interest in Pastoral Care within the School
environment and in support of this,I recently completed a level two
