GROUP PROJECTS
Automated Lathe
• Designed and developed our own lathe structure, with two shafts to drive the lathe’s cutter.
• One shaft was controlled with a servo-motor, controlled via Visual Basic application. The
second shaft was manually controlled with a DTDP switch that inverts the voltage polarity.
• This project lead our team to won the CETYS Engineering EXPO in 2007.
Automated Lathe, part 2
• Re-design the lathe structure for a stronger one, and continue to have two shafts to drive the
lathe’s cutter.
• LabView was used to control both shaft, implementing:
o PID controls to control de position of dc motors
o PID control to control the RPM of a third motor.
• This project lead our team to won the CETYS Engineering EXPO in 2008.
