Change agent: As startup President and CEO of XBRL US, an independent, non profit technology XML standards
organization, recruited and managed world class staff team, cultivated relationships, and built reputational standing
enabling me to raise a total of $22 million in 3 years. Realized the highest possible returns on donor investment:
mandate of XBRL standard by the US government, adoption of XBRL by users and industry, and greater
transparency of capital markets.
CIO, enterprise architect and strategist: Led systems architecture and strategy (tech and non tech) in the CIO role
at The Greater Washington Board of Trade, Creative Associates International, and Council on Foundations, and as
the chief enterprise architect and strategist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Project lead: Project director for a large scale ($11.5M), politically sensitive, and technically complex development
project, delivering a high quality on time and on budget. Awarded “Microsoft Success Story” for creative use of
CRM, web, and collaboration technologies to comply with federal requirements for public review & comment, while
facilitating what is generally recognized to be one of the largest crowd sourced technology projects in history.

First hire of a newly established consortium for XBRL, a global business reporting standard, with
jurisdiction in the United States. Responsibilities include strategy, resource, and operational
leadership to drive XBRL adoption through marketing, technical advancement, community building,
and services. $22 million in corporate contributions, foundation grants, and government partnerships
raised over three years in an extremely complex, dynamic, and political environment to support the
development of a digital standard for all public GAAP financial statements, and successfully bringing
it to market. All initiative goals realized; today XBRL is the mandated format for all financial
disclosures by publicly traded companies to the SEC. .
