Responsible for providing translation and interpreting services to
UNMIT top management tier in meetings with the President,
Prime-Minister, Ministers and other Government representatives in
Timor-Leste as well as UN clients and agencies within and outside
Timor-Leste.
Entrusted with the induction of new staff members as to what
interpreting services are about and what to expect from UNMIT
interpreters and language assistants.
Coordination of interpreter team in the field.
Officer in charge of the Translation/Interpreting Cell (TIC) for
approximately 18 months.
Interviewing and training translators/interpreters hired by UNMIT.
Review and consolidation of glossaries and translation memories
produced by TIC translators.
On-site logistical, technical and operational support to interpreters.
IT support on CAT tool and IR interpreting equipment.
Summary of Achievements.
Coordinate and lead team of interpreters during final official visit to
Timor-Leste by the Secretary-General (and USGs) of the UN and other
dignitaries (Gordon Brown, Mrs. Ki-Moon) under the auspices of UNMIT.
Responsible for the Deployment of Translation Memory software (Wordfast
and Trados) across UNMIT.
Nominated as Acting Head of the Department on several occasions for a
total of 18 months.
Responsible for translation and interpreting training for national
staff members.
Training on IR interpreting equipment setup.
QA (translation memories and glossaries).
