Letter of Interest

As a seasoned law enforcement officer with experience in criminal justice, public health

administration, forensic psychology, teaching, academic research, social work and mental

health, I am seriously interested in pursuing a position within my fields of interest.

I have 16 years of experience working with children and adults touched by Asperger’s

Syndrome, ADHD, depression, anxiety and speech and learning delays. I am proficient in

utilizing the DSM-IV (IV-R) and have written ISPs and IEPs, and various mental health

treatment plans. Additionally, I possess several years of experience working in the MH/MR

field providing direct care for moderately to profoundly disabled men, women and children

in RTF, school and community settings. I also worked as a caseworker with Sherwood Hall,

Inc., counseling juvenile delinquents with sex offenders, and dual diagnosed individuals

with comorbid disorders.

Furthermore, I possess current CPR/First Aid certification, as well as FBI, PA criminal

and child welfare clearances. Additionally, I possess several years of training and work

experience as a correctional officer with Lancaster County Prison, and am a September

2008 graduate of the Elizabethtown (PA) Correctional Officer Training Academy; and have

completed several internships with local police, adult probation and parole, juvenile justice

and correctional departments.

My communication skills include fluency in Outlook, Banner, PowerPoint, Word, MAC,

Lotus and Excel, to include typing approximately 100 words per minute with relevant

accuracy.

Presently, I am an online honors graduate student with Capella University, and will

graduate in March 2014 with an MS in Public Safety and additional certificates in Public

Health Administration and Forensic Science. I begin my online doctorate degree program

in Forensic Psychology in April 2014. I also earned a BS in Criminal Justice Administration

from Central Pennsylvania College (CPC), and am currently an alumni tutor of criminal

justice and general studies courses with CPC. I further earned an AS in Social Science from

Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). Finally, in June 2006 and 2007, I

voluntarily assisted several criminal justice professors with teaching high school seniors all

aspects of crime scene investigation techniques, criminal law, homeland security, homeland

security and police science, while they attended CPCs Crime Scene Investigation Camp.

In summation, I possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as

impeccable references to provide. Please note that all breaks in employment were situations

where I was required to remain at home periodically to tend to and home school both of my
