2004 - 2006

Options Development specializing in USB attached HDD and optical storage.

Managed all stages of development; from concept though end of life. This

required resolving any defects found; in design, in testing software, in

the documentation, in manufacturing or by customers.

1. Developed 3 unique USB attached hard disk drives, along with

applications that made the finished product much more useful. This

Resulted in over 88,000 units sold at high profit levels.

2. Established test plans and procedures and quality standards used in the

discovery and elimination of 23 previously undiscovered defects, greatly

enhancing initial customer experience with IBM/Lenovo products and

applications.

3. Lead test teams and provided direction to members. Evaluated defects

and managed through their resolution.

4. Earned recognition for high reliability and quality of four new USB

attached CD/DVD multi-burner Dual layer optical drives, along with

enhancement applications. There are 163,000 of these sold with less than

.004% failure rate.

5. Received special recognition and awards for three invention patents and

six invention publications.

6. Proactively traveled to suppliers and resolved firmware and development

issues. This shortened time to market by as much as 3 months.

7. Assured development was done in compliance with industry and ISO

standards world wide. This made the potential customer base 3 times

8. Follow-up Engineering on these products including resolving seven

critical customer situations, resulting in high customer satisfaction and

27,000 additional orders placed.

2003 - 2004

Responsible for continued product enhancements and alleviation of any

problems found in custom systems that were previously developed by IBM

Engineering and Technology.

1. Earned recognition for implementing recovery plans which prevented the

loss of business and avoided the replacement of a whole product line, for

a savings to IBM of $300,000.

2. Wrote and provided applications which streamlined upgrades and improved

test processes resulting in 2 to 3 weeks quicker returned repairs to the

customer.

3. Researched and established alternate storage and development solutions

that was well received and implemented by the customer.

4. Documented Product Engineering processes from my in extensive knowledge

from prior assignment resulting in better working, post sales customer

experiences.

5. Developed an updated Return Materials Authorization system that improved

tracking of products returned for repair or replacement by 44%.

Server Product Engineer, IBM Server Product Engineering 1996

- 2003

Lead Product Engineer for RAID storage and 64 Bit servers. Supervising top

level problem resolution of all the most difficult design problems/defects

on High End IBM Servers and IBM Storage products.

1. Resolved very difficult storage problem on servers use by major US auto

manufacturer. Resulting in a 2 million dollar contract renewal to IBM

and a cash bonus to me.

2. Maintained 92% customer satisfaction level resulting IBM's well known

high customer support ratings in the industry.

3. Drove all major customer issues including customer critical situations

to resolution and verified satisfaction from customers.

4. Lead Product Engineer on with responsibility of final resolution of

defects or problems in IBM High End Servers and 64 bit Systems, RAID

storage, Fiber RAID storage and SAN.

5. Facilitated the resolution many development issues that would have

affected customer satisfaction before products and systems became

generally available to the enterprise customer.

6. Organized regular meetings with suppliers on development and defect

issues. This included customer satisfaction, hardware firmware and

application issues.

training to middle level and top level field engineers.

becoming an OS/2 Certified Engineer. Worked directly with developers and

OEM's on integration and interoperability issues with OS/2.

DuPont, Wilmington, DE 1988 - 1994

Senior Field Engineer

Medical X-ray, Lithograph Printing, Color Separation Scanners and Non

Destructive Test X-ray scanners.

1. Developed X-ray scanner equipment used at NASA on one occasion to verify

that correct position of rocket nozzles while on launch pad. Resulted in

a savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars to take apart and examine.

2. Installation and support of Imaging systems used by Martin Marietta,

NASA, Livermore Labs, Oakridge Labs, the US Air Force and Allied Signal

for non-destructive test of multi-million dollar equipment.

3. Became the expert on DuPont laser and lithography equipment used

throughout the print and news industry.
