Payroll Supervisor
• Job responsibilities include all aspects of preparing payroll for exempt and hourly employees.
• Processing new hires and all pertinent information such as salary, insurance and miscellaneous
deductions plus 401K deductions and direct deposit requests.
• Multi state payroll with employees in almost every state. This presents a variety in setting up federal,
state, local and unemployment taxes. All correspondence with state agencies in regards to payroll tax
questions and changes in unemployment rates are also handled in this position.
• Majority of employees are paid on a production basis, so much care is taken in assimilating and verifying
the accuracy of that data before payment in addition to auditing and posting timesheets for hourly office
employees. Payroll is also prepared for salaried and sales employees.
• Wage assignments and garnishments are received and processed.
• Preparation of approximately 20 Excel spreadsheets for each payroll.
• Each processed payroll is thoroughly checked for accuracy and the checks readied for distribution.
• Majority of employees are home based, so there is a vast amount of customer service provided via phone
and email.
• Performed the majority of the work of compiling information and testing data for the implementation of
a new compensation program for our production employees and determining what the final results should
be. Worked with technical department on a new payroll system to accommodate the necessary changes.
ABBOTT LABORATORIES. Abbott Park, IL. 1998 - 2004
Office Coordinator
• Responsible for accounting duties of the aviation department including statistical reports, monthly and
year end journals, input and auditing of expense reports and the reconciliation of numerous accounts.
• Handled payment of all invoices to vendors of the Corporate Aviation Department as well as
responsibility for setting up new accounts and interfacing with vendors to resolve questions and
problems.
• High amount of phone and customer service contact with employees at all levels, requiring the ability to
deal with highly confidential information.
• Also acted in administrative capacity, assisting the operations administrator in scheduling aircraft trips
for corporate executives and employees. This involved making airline, hotel and rental car
arrangements. Scheduled meetings and took care of the daily office details and requirements.
Payroll Technician 1991 - 1998
• Performed all aspects of payroll for approximately 2500 employees using an in-house system. Some of
this was responsibility for data entry of timecards for hourly employees as well as preparing and
maintaining other reports and information for both hourly and salary employees. Audited reports to
verify accuracy of time entries for Abbott’s timecard population. Prepared quarterly unemployment
taxes.
• Provided customer service support to Abbott’s employees. This included interacting with human
resources and benefits regarding policies and Workman's Compensation.
• Anticipated time reporting problems and was responsible for providing necessary solutions.
