October 2013 – present Electronics Engineer CoolPlanet Energy Systems, Camarillo, CA
Temporary assignment to develop schematics and wiring diagrams for bio-fuel processing equipment.
2012 – 2013 Electronics Engineer Veeco Mechanical Process Equipment, Camarillo, CA
General electronic design and maintenance of hard disk drive head lapping systems. Support of outside design
and manufacturing firms including Engineering Change Orders. Calibration and support for data acquisition system
electronics. Cable drawings, component selection and documentation.
2005 – 2012 Electronics Engineer Arc Machines, Inc. Pacoima, CA
General electrical and electronic design and maintenance of arc welding power supplies. AMI makes automated
orbital pipe and tube welding heads. Cost reduction and replacement of obsolete components for existing products.
Non-standard wiring and controls for welding fixtures such as linear and rotary stages. Selection and testing for
single board computers, all release documentation required for multiple products. Team member for development of
welding power supplies. Debugging and solutions for large welding installations at customer sites.
Design of interconnection and control boards for process automation. Design of multiple output power supplies
using off the shelf modules, filter boards, high current interconnection and supply boards for use in welding
equipment. Created fabrication, assembly, wiring guides, and test instructions for circuit boards. Integration of circuit
boards in to product platforms, testing for regulatory compliance.
1999 - 2005 ASIC Design Engineer Wyle / Arrow Electronics, Woodland Hills, CA
Layout of 0.25 - 0.13 Micron CMOS standard cell ASICs using Avanti / Synopsys tool set targeted for the LSI Logic
Foundry.
Wyle Electronics was acquired by Arrow in 2000. Both companies provided sales and design services for LSI
Logic. Our group provided a “netlist to GDSII” solution per the LSI methodology. My focus was primarily on layout,
(as opposed to test insertion, test pattern generation, or simulation). Tasks included:
Compilation of memories, Netlist conversion and debugging, Package bond out. Floorplanning using Synopsys
Milkyway, JupiterXT, Apollo, and Astro including Power map generation. Timing driven cell placement and signal
integrity issues such as ramptimes, crosstalk, power drop, and I/O simultaneous switching current requirements.
Timing correction using Synopsys Primetime. Verification of layout and design rules for coreware and IP. Layout
versus Schematic checking and correction, Design Rule Checking using Mentor Calibre for physical rules such as
notch and gap, slotting, spacing, width, and metal utilization.
1998 – 1999 Electronics Engineer Lumonics Incorporated, OXNARD, CA
Engineering support and development for laser based marking systems. Evaluated high-current power supplies,
galvomotors for mirror control, debug of existing circuit designs. Re-coding of FPGAs for circuit updating.
1981 – 1998 Electronics Engineer View Engineering, SIMI VALLEY, CA
Systems design for optical and laser based inspection systems. Design and implementation of motion control
interface card and system electronics including power and signal distribution. Design and development of video
based image processing systems (non-contact inspection ) such as passive backplane design, signal, and wiring
distribution. Development of material handling interfaces including motion, sensors, and PLC control.
Travel to assist the customers of View integrate our sub-systems in to their products. Assisted in the creation of a
Gate Array ASIC from discrete logic including the generation of functional test vectors.
Design of computer driven test equipment for PCBAs, and FPGAs. Support of hardware and software for
Production and Test departments. Generation of single or low volume production units and field service upgrades.
Assembly, power-up, and debugging of prototype systems.
Implemented FDA, CE, EMC, UL, SEMI compliance across multiple product lines. Generated and maintained
documentation for FDA compliance of products containing lasers.
