Section In-charge - Molecular Pathology
Scope of Professional Practice:
The Laboratory Blood Science Department consists of: Hematology Section, Biochemistry Section, and Immuno-Serology Section.
• Receives specimens and performs all routine and special tests in different department according to assignment with ease, speed and accuracy.
• Proficient in the use of controls and sees to it that all tests done in the laboratory complies with the quality control standards set by the department.
• Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment; is aware and constantly complies with the department safety and precautions program.
• Accommodates and provides patient detailed instruction on the procedure prior to do and informing patient of any such potential side reaction.
• Calibrates and runs controls prior specimen analysis and report any deviation or equipment malfunction to the supervisor.
• Notifies patient care unit and/or physician of all critical test values.
• Validates all test results in the computer system and records them in appropriate logbooks.
• Observes proper handling of specimen and safe disposal of biohazard waste.
• Observes cleanliness of work areas before and after every shift and maintains proper housekeeping of the laboratory premises.
• Participates in the laboratory activities for personal and professional growth.

Hematology Section
Performs routine blood analysis:
Complete blood count, Coagulation Assays (Prothrombin time, Partial Thromboplastin Time, Thrombin Time, Fibrinogen Level, D-Dimer Assay), Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate.
Responsible for performing special tests such as Sickling Cell Test/Solubility and Hemoglobin electrophoresis, as needed.
