1997 - 2013
Responsible for environmental and safety inspections, audits, and
samplings, on work areas, satellite accumulation points and hazardous waste
storage areas. Prepare and schedule with contractors all haz waste, lab
packs, oil, lead and universal waste pick-ups. Review and sign hazardous
waste shipping manifests. Perform emergency response cleanup to chemical
and/or mercury spills. Trainer in Haz Mat / Haz Com Training. Monitor waste
generation and chemical storage areas, all sites. Maintain chemical waste
log and inspect each site weekly. Accompany federal, state, and county
inspectors on unannounced site inspections, and submit a report of said
inspections to the EHS Director and Legal Dept. Prepare for approval state
and county reports, Tier II, and Biennial Hazardous Waste Report. Update
Environmental Emergency Contingency Plans for all Beckman Coulter sites. At
the present time Beckman Coulter has three different sites, twelve
buildings, totaling over 700,000 square feet of manufacturing,
laboratories, and office space.
Decontamination and Receiving Department, Supervisor.
1991-1997
Responsible for preparing medical equipment, for remanufacturing, customer
repair, or scrapping. Monitor and control of precious metals, lead, gold,
and platinum for reclamation and biohazard waste materials. Responsible for
a crew of eight.
. Was able to change the department's category from overhead to direct
labor status, through the use of refurbished parts and assemblies
saved from scrapped equipment to be used for manufacturing.
. Created a process to clean waste mercury thus changing its category
from hazardous waste to clean mercury, making it cheaper to transport
and recycle.
Carpentry and Construction Department, Leadsperson.
1986-1991
Responsible for all of Coulter's 24 buildings. Over 1 million square feet
of combined occupancy, offices, laboratories, and production floor. Other
duties included roof maintenance, grounds, and parking lots. Coordinate
work with contractors on special projects. Responsible for a crew of
twelve.
. Directed in house crew for all construction projects without the need
to use outside contractors, keeping expenses below budget.
