ExperienceS:
Relevant Coursework
. Senior Design Project - Designed and implemented eight different
digital guitar effects in C using real-time digital signal
processing as part of a guitar amplifier system on a three-person
team. Designed, implemented, and tested algorithms to manipulate
guitar signal's amplitude, frequency, and phase while meeting real-
time requirements. Drafted technical reports and conducted
presentations throughout the design process.
. Real-Time Digital Signal Processing Laboratory - Implemented
transceiver subsystems in C on a TI C6713 floating-point
programmable digital signal processor. Analyzed system using
LabVIEW and oscilloscope to refine methods of signal generation,
various FIR/IIR filter performance, data scrambler integrity, pulse-
amplitude modulation (PAM), quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM),
and receiver performance under real-time constraints. Simulated and
analyzed DSP algorithms in MATLAB.
. Computer Networks - Studied layers and protocols of Open Systems
Interconnection (OSI) model, multiplexing/demultiplexing, reliable
data transfer, flow/congestion control, addressing, forwarding,
routing, encapsulation/decapsulation, error detection and
correction, security, and wireless networking. Analyzed DNS, HTTP,
TCP, IP, Ethernet, and ARP using Wireshark. Programmed TCP/UDP
sockets in Java.
. Embedded Systems - Through various small independent class
projects, implemented modular programming, addressing, memory
management, stacks, queues, interrupts, finite state machines, ADC,
DAC, I/O device drivers, hardware interfacing, and serial
communication in Assembly on a Freescale 9S12 processor.
. Software Engineering - Studied various aspects and issues of
software development life cycle including requirements elicitation
and evaluation, architecture and design, construction, and
deployment and maintenance and also studied integral activities
including documentation, measurement and evaluation, management of
objects, teamwork, and evolution.
. Data Structures - Implemented object-oriented design and
programming in Java using objects and classes, UML,
inheritance/polymorphism, recursion, sequence data structures
(list, stack, queue), non sequence data structures (trees,
heaps, sets, maps, hash tables), and software design principles.
Designed and implemented software projects on three-person teams.
. Control Systems - Modeled and analyzed electrical and mechanical
feedback control systems in MATLAB including the areas of transient
and steady-state response, stability, and frequency response.
Designed, implemented, and analyzed various physical proportional-
integral-derivative (PID) control systems utilizing LabVIEW and
physical system data acquisition.
. Algorithm Design - Implemented algorithm problem solving principles
in C including divide and conquer, searching and sorting
strategies, recursion, and structured programming. Studied top-down
design and analysis of algorithms and computer organization.
