Provided operational oversight of 10 adult prisons. Defined and
implemented agency goals and objectives. Supervised North Region Wardens
and other high level management staff. Represented the Director on Boards,
Commissions and Committees. Ensured compliance with regulations,
statutes, guidelines and private contracts. Consulted to other state
governments and municipalities regarding recruitment, hiring and
development of correctional employees.
. Facilitated the first sale of a state correctional institution to a
private corrections company in the state of Ohio. Directed the
operational process of the sale and approved staffing levels for the
facility.
. Restructured correctional services for offenders into a more efficient
and collaborative approach, saving approximately $2 million.
Allen Correctional Institution, (ACI), Lima, OH

Oakwood Correctional Facility, (OCF), Lima, OH

Warden
Simultaneously served as Warden at ACI and OCF. Chief Managing Officer of
these two facilities. Assured a safe, healthy and humane living
environment for offenders and working conditions for employees.
Consolidated goods and services and programs between ACI and OCF as
dictated through a tight operating budget and changing departmental
mission.
. Created $7.9 million savings in medical treatment through the
implementation of an innovative, model program that was replicated
nationwide.
. Realized $2.3 million savings by consolidating two institutions and
combining administrative staffs. Combined two facility budgets in excess
of $30 million each to generate savings.
. Developed a training program that reduced the number of employees on
injury leave.
. Led the organization through three successful ACA audits.
Additional leadership roles within ODRC as Deputy Warden of Special
Services. In addition, served as Guest Lecturer on Leadership and
Corrections at a number of universities and colleges. Consultant with the
National Institute of Corrections and for Philadelphia, PA on city
corrections management recruitment.
