Executive Director of Facilities – Operations and Maintenance

The Executive Director of Facilities leads the Director of Physical Plant, in managing multiple aspects of

the day-to-day facilities maintenance and operations of Texas A&M Kingsville including custodial services,

maintenance, mechanical services and systems, electrical systems, central plant and chilled water

operations, elevators, waste management, energy conservation, selected outsourced services, and the

preservation of the campus landscape. Planning, Design and Construction Facilities Management is also

responsible for planning, design and construction by coordinating and directing multiple projects- both

operating and capital - including dealing with outside consultants and contractors, as well as with city and

state officials.

SAGE HOSPITALITY, Rockford, Illinois 2006– 2009

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING – Directly managed employees and day-to-day routine maintenance of a Five Star

400-room water park and hotel. Hire support staff that includes maintenance technicians, grounds,

janitorial, and administrative personnel. Establish programs for preventive maintenance; coordinate major

maintenance, and handle purchasing.

HYATT WILD OAK RANCH, San Antonio, Texas 2004 – 2006

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING – Recruited by the company to manage the final construction for a 440-room, full

service five-star resort that included five swimming pools, a lazy river, golf course, and four restaurants.

Directed all subcontractor functions and ensured work meets contract specifications. Additionally . . .

* Completed all new construction on time and within budget.

* Managed day-to-day operations (maintenance, preventive maintenance, and inspections)

HILTON CORPORATION/DOUBLETREE HOTEL, San Antonio, Texas 1997 – 2004

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING – Managed all facilities engineering and maintenance for a 300-room upscale hotel

property with several restaurants and a 6,000 square foot banquet/meeting facility.

* Functioned as Project Superintendent for a $6.5 million hotel renovation. Worked closely with

architects, contractors, and code compliance representatives during each phase of the project.

SHERATON GUNTER HOTEL, San Antonio, Texas 1995 – 1997

CHIEF ENGINEER – Directed day-to-day operations for the physical plant and property maintenance. Hired,

trained and supervised a team of 15 personnel who provided maintenance, engineering, and

administrative activities.

* Developed and implemented preventive maintenance programs that ensured a high reliability of

the physical plant that consisted of an older HVAC system for this historic property.

* Developed and managed the annual operating budget.

* Assisted general operations as Manager on Duty – a rotational position that supervised all hotel

operations.

HART OF TEXAS CONSTRUCTION, Marion, Texas 1983 – 1995

CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR – Recruited, hired, and trained maintenance engineers for hotel maintenance and

rehabilitation contracts. Managed a team of 27 personnel and handled the engineering and programming

of physical plant, energy management systems, and HVAC controls.

FOUR SEASONS NURSING HOME CORPORATION, Austin, Texas 1972 – 1983

Regional Maintenance Supervisor – Directed maintenance operations for five properties in Texas.

Hired, trained, and managed a team of 30 technicians.

* Negotiated with and hired subcontractors for major maintenance or construction.

* Provided quality control of all major repairs and construction to ensure compliance with contract

specifications.

* Worked closely with Nursing Home Managers to develop programs for controlling costs and
