Automatic Traffic Controller

Methodology of ATC

• A four way traffic controller will be build with four barriers.

• A microcontroller is used to control the barriers. In this we control the synchronization of all the

barriers in the same way.

• The power supplied to microcontroller i.e. 5v is supplied by a voltage regulator.

• When mob will large, then pressure sensor detects the mob and allow the barrier to be open for

long time.

• We can control all the traffic in this way.

PIC 16F877 Microcontroller have input output ports.we attach traffic lights to these ports

Advantages of ATC

• It reduces the traffic intensity.

• Increase the traffic handling capacity of an intersection.

• Reduce certain types of accidents, most notably right-angle (broadside) collisions.

• The waiting time of the vehicles is optimal, the emission of carbon monoxide from the vehicles

is reduced. This will give a positive effect to the green house effect towards the environment.

• The intelligent traffic system will also save the motorists’ time and reduces their frustration while

waiting .
