Contributing ideas that work
. Maintained, enhanced and became the technical lead overseeing the
Check Image Driver program, specifically to reduce the amount of
active processing it does versus passive processing and invented a new
method (Throttling of an iterative process in a computer system -
Patent # 8,327,365) to make the program self-aware of its past
processing usage and adjust its active processing based on this real
time data to better control when it needs to be active, which reduced
CPU and I/O charges. Installation issues that normally occurred with
any Check Image Driver installs never occurred after I took over the
lead of this program.
. Redesigned the Image CDROM Create process, reducing the month-end run
time from 3 days to 6 hours for heaviest processing sites.
. Designed automated billing system to generate billing for the Image
CDROM Creation system which retired an intensive manual process that
took 3 full days to complete.
. Lead a redesign project for Account Analysis system to improve
processing and reduce the daily cycle run time from 9 hours to 2
hours.
. Created a process to check all transactions going from the Deposits
system to the Account Reconciliation Processing (ARP) system so that
whenever an ARP account is determined to be missing a serial number,
it will continue to post to the Deposit system but will out sort
during the exception sort process.
. Corrected a problem with M & I Deposits posting program (Ver 5.7) that
the vendor had created. Checked with version 6.3 that other co-
workers were in the process of installing and discovered the problem
still occurred. This problem involved some on-line and batch- edit
processing that would cause a data not found error within the
customer's data. I corrected the problem in both versions.
. A major correction to the CA: profitability system. The customer did
not balance their system on a daily basis and they discovered during
their month end processing that a day's worth of transactions had
double posted. This discovery was 30 days after the double posting
occurred. Was able to recover 23 of the 24 backup input files that
were needed as well as a backup copy of the transaction report for
that day. Wrote a program that would take the transaction report and
create the data needed to back out the charges.
. Enhanced the IPS On-line Reject Re-entry process, which would allow
item batches without rejects yet in balance to be skipped when
reentering items. This was an enhancement that many shops had asked
UNISYS for and had as yet been told that this was not one of their
major concerns for the system. Other institutions, upon hearing about
this solution, asked for this code.
