to assemble and disassemble.

DUAL BOP

DISASSEMBLY

1. Clamp the BOP body securely and connect a suitable pump to the

cylinders. Pump the rams fully open.

2. Remove the six cylinder screws (44) from each cylinder (6). Grip the hand

wheel (1) firmly, and use it to withdraw the cylinder from the BOP body.

3. Once the cylinder (6) is pulled back fully on its support rods (19), use the

pump or the hand wheel to push the ram assembly (13 and 31) just free of

the cylinder (6). There will now be enough room to slide the ram to the

side, free of the piston nut tee (21), and remove it.

NOTE: This procedure is used for general ram maintenance, as well as to

invert the rams if required.

4. Fully retract the piston (28) either using the hydraulics or the hand wheel.

If the hand wheel is used, the piston will need to be pushed back.

CAUTION: Failure to fully retract the piston may result in damage to the

indicator rod (35).

5. Disconnect the pump and remove the hydraulic fittings from the cylinder

(6). Drain the hydraulic fluid into a suitable container and discard in the

appropriate manner.

6. Unscrew the end cap (25) from the cylinder (6). As the threads disengage

move the assembly slightly towards the side where the indicator rod (35) is

situated. This will free the head of the indicator rod from its groove in the

piston (28) and allow the end cap to be fully removed.

7. Remove the hand wheel (1) and its nut and washer (24 and 14). Remove

the stem nut key (4) and remove the stem (16), stem nut (3) and bearings

(2) from the end cap (25).

8. The stem nut (3) can be removed from the stem (16). Note that this is

aleft-hand thread

9. Set the end cap components aside and dismantle the cylinder. Push the

piston (28) as far as it will go, into the cylinder (6). This will allow access

to the piston nut tee retaining screw (8), which should be removed. The

piston nut tee (21) can now be unscrewed from the piston (28).

10. Push the piston (28) out of the cylinder (6).

11. Remove the piston rod seal cartridge (7) from the cylinder (6). There is a

special tool available for doing this if required.

12. Repeat the cylinder disassembly procedure for the other cylinders and end

caps.

13. Disassemble the Ram Assemblies. Check the ram seals (9 and 42) for

damage and /or wear, and replace if necessary.

14. Remove the equaliser valve systems (see sheet 3 in section 08) from the

BOP body. Pay special attention to the condition of the mating faces on the

body and the equaliser valve block.

15. Remove the ball (57) and the valve spool (54) from the equaliser valve

body (52). Pay special attention to the condition of the seat in the body

(52) and the ball (57). If any wear or damage is evident, these items should

be replaced.

16. Remove and discard all seals .

REASSEMBLE

Prior to re-assembly the following checks should be made to the equipment:

1. With a suitable solvent Clean and inspect all parts for damage or advanced

wear, and replace any component that looks like it could possibly be a

cause of failure. Do not attempt to repair components.

2. Replace all seals using the correct redress kit from the supplier. Many seals

are non-standard so this is important. Grease seal grooves, prior to

installation.

3. Thoroughly grease all seal surfaces including the horizontal bore in which

the ram assemblies slide.

4. Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly (see section 4.3 for

appropriate Torque values).

ROPE SCOKET

DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

1. Place the Bottom (item 4) in the vise and remove the two (2) Set Screws (items 5).

2. Remove the Body (item 3) from the Bottom (item 4).

3. With spring compression tool, compress spring (item 8) and remove blade

(item7).

4. Place body (item 3) in the vise and with a long punch and hammer tap out

brass wedge (item 1) and

brass wedge receiver (item 2).

5. Remove set screw (item 6) from brass wedge (item 1) then remove any

wire attached to brass wedge

(item 1).

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

1. Clean all parts, and inspect all parts for wear and damage. Replace parts

as needed.

2. Place the bottom (item 4) in the vise.

3. Place spring (item 8) into bottom (item 4), compress spring (item 8)

with compression tool and insert

blade (item 7) into bottom (item 4) then release spring (item 8).

4. Coat the pin thread on bottom (item 4) with anti-seize compound.

5. Take set screw (item 6) and coat with anti-seize compound, then screw set screw

(item 6) into brass

wedge (item 1).

6. Take brass wedge (item 1) and insert it into brass wedge receiver (item 2), then

insert both into small

ID bore in body (item 3).

7. Take body (item 3) with brass wedge receiver (item 2) and brass wedge ( item 1)

and screw it to

bottom ( item 4) hand tight.

8. Take set screw (item 5) and coat with anti-seize compound, then screw set screw

(item 5) into body.
