Business Systems Analyst

Accountable for enhancements and researching problems for clients using an investment management system that

offered asset servicing, data management and analytics and distribution software and services. Regulatory requests

involved tight deadlines. Some requests became large projects but resulted in substantial savings for clients.

Position involved many levels of project management.

Consulted and interacted with stakeholders and sponsors. These people could be the actual requestor and

anyone affected by the request. The value of these meetings would be to assure that the results would be

what the stakeholders and sponsors wanted and would alert all interested parties on reported issues.

Prepared statement of work and provided an initial estimate. The stakeholders and sponsors would give the

approval to proceed or close the request. If the estimate was too large – the business analyst would meet

with the stakeholders and sponsors to see what other options could be given that would satisfy the request.

This could be determining what needed to be done immediately and what could wait.

Wrote, revised and obtained approval for detailed requirements from the stakeholders, sponsors and

technical team. The requirements were used by the technical team to code and test the request.

Participated and approved the QA test plan and approved the test results. Responded to issues as they

happened and managed any change requests.

Was a member of teams that were in charge of evaluating current project management documents. These

involved revising the Risk Management document and Project Scope Document. These revisions would

become part of the corporate methodology.

COLONIAL PENN GROUP, Philadelphia, PA

Director/Project Leader 1997-2000

Project Manager for the Y2K project for the Philadelphia Office. Evaluated all software and hardware to determine

what was at risk for failing on or after 12/31/1999. This included the building itself. Managed the project for 3

years.

Researched, analyzed, and authored set of recommendations for software that was in danger of failing.

Provided solutions of remediation or converting to another system. Gained buy-in to proceed from all

office department heads.

Responsible for a team of 7 employees and 4 consultants for each system that needed to be remediated.

Evaluated remediation tools. Developed a project plan and timeline for creating requirements, coding,

testing and production implementation. Scheduled team and upper level management meetings, updated

documentation and change request forms, reviewed test results and scheduled production implementation.

Participated in projects for systems that would not be remediated but whose data would be

converted to another system. Overall responsibility was to ensure that this business would be able

to continue after 12/31/1999.

Scheduled a mock 12/31/1999 test for all hardware/software in the office on weekends one month

before 12/31/1999. This test validated that all software and hardware would function after

12/31/1999.

Developed schedule for the Office Command Center which was in effect 12/30/1999 to 1/5/2000.

Employees were scheduled to respond to any problems and validate output from end of year and

beginning of year cycles.

Company was satisfied with the outcome of the project and awarded the project manager a trip to

San Diego to attend a post YEAR2000 conference.

Lead Programmer Analyst 1993-1997

Managed team of 7 responsible for the Health Claims and Actuarial systems. Handled all reported issues and

enhancement requests. Prioritized all work. Provided onsite customer support. Met with staff and clients

throughout the project cycle.

Created an automated process of the payment of health claims. Employed vendor file to call the online

programs that were used in the health claims payout. There were claims that were rejected, payment went

toward the deductible or have a check created. Achieved $500,000 savings.

Designed an enhancement to the health claims system to process annuities. Stored and retrieved policy

information and automating annuity payments. Replaced manual process and reduced costs.

Earned a Fellow in the Life Management Institute by taking 10 individual courses dealing with life and

health insurance and passing the tests for each one. Awarded trip to San Francisco to accept honor.
