Nucor Steel is a Fortune 500 company with approximately 200 operating
facilities and is the largest steel producer in the United States and the
largest recycler in North America.
Maintenance Project Engineer (April 2008 - Nov 2013)
. Part of an elite five-member corporate core reliability team auditing
division power systems. Responsible for evaluating operational risk and
teammate safety protocols
. Redesigned and automated the plant water system resulting in a reduction
of 60 million gallons of water use annually as featured in a full page
spread in the Wall Street Journal and a 70% reduction in equipment
corrosion rates.
. Engineered, and developed capital budgeting, and led installation of main
electrical substation replacement in five days resulting in increased
operational reliability, reduced downtime, and the elimination of
employee safety hazards
. Conceptualized, and procured $1.2M grant, and managed Energy Recovery

negotiated equipment purchases, developed and trained personnel, and
supervised all electrical improvement projects.

Caster Maintenance Supervisor (June 1996 - April 1998)
Rotating Shift Supervision of the electrical and mechanical staffs with
responsibilities for the repair, maintenance, and construction of three
continuous casters.
Melt shop Caster Electrician (April 1990- June 1996)
Shift Electrician responsible for maintenance of the caster and melt shop,
electrical construction, plc programming, electrical motor repair, and all
related electrical activities. Sent to Houston, TX mill for 12 months total
on two different occasions as part of an elite team to solve production
problems, improve processes and train staff. During this time period,
developed a system at the hot saw to cut hot beams to cold cut lengths and
cold saw hydraulic speed cutting system
