2004 - 2009

SAP System was only used to capture the hours worked on a bulk PM Order as

per Line Code. Projects were done separate and Maintenance PM's was also

done as per Line Code per Cost Centre. Currently I am monitoring the

System (Maint.) on SAP in Ermelo and all the MIS related issues are

reported and registered by me in Ermelo. Mr v.d. Linde upgraded me in the

beginning of this Financial Year to ask me if I would be entrusted to do

this. All this related staff reports to me and we supply Management with

information.

. All technical info on faults - Infra Ermelo

. Complete budget for Electrical systems in Ermelo

. Represent Infra on the conference (Heavy Haul) in Ermelo

. Monitor the projects - Electrical & Signals

. Handle all material related issues - Electrical & Signals

. Handle all IT problems for Infra Ermelo

. Handle all SAP profiles for Infra Ermelo

. Handle technical specs on Electrical Material

This has been my first big project that I have managed and implemented it

successfully. This had to be implemented on depot level and also on

management level on the Coalline (Transnet). This is the line that runs

from the coal fields down to Richards Bay.

2000 - 2004

Since 2000 we started to implement SAP in Electrical Systems in Ermelo -

The reason for this was that the rest of Spoornet were already working on

SAP but not on COALlink and OREX - We could not order maintenance

material for the depot in Ermelo - We had to use SAP and work via a PM

Order - This was a new concept for Ermelo staff .

Then I started to implement SAP in Electrical Systems in Ermelo from

scratch - We had to start from anew with Electrical, Signals and Perway

pertaining all SAP related issues - From there it escalated to Vryheid

and Empangeni on the COALline - This was implemented initially on

Electrical Systems where Perway was working on a different system - We

started to capture all relevant technical information and this had to be

fed into SAP - I had to start implementing the complete system on

COALlink and was also responsible for training the staff that had to work

on SAP - I had to monitor the system for 4 years (a distance of 450km).

We also got Ogies depot 150km that was extra (STK's)

People needed to be appointed in the various SAP positions.

After I trained the staff, they used these jobs as stepping stones for

promotion and at the end of the day we had no staff left operating SAP R3

- I was convinced that the training they received were of excellent

standard (on-the-job-training / practical) - Due to the staff that left

the depot we ended up with a big back-load of work on SAP.

1997 - 2000

Work on the Ermelo Section (25Kv AC, 3Kv DC, 11Kv AC) due to a shortage of

staff in Ermelo for the above period - There was a shortage of qualified

technical substation technicians due to numerous reasons (wide variety of

voltages).

Due to this shortage of staff they needed extra people to do stand-by for

call-outs on substation equipment - In the same instance I still had to do

the functions of the Depot Planner at that stage.

I had to work overtime and Sunday time with the substation staff so that we

could complete the set-aside workload of the month. We had to uphold the

standard of maintenance and repairs to OHTE in the Ermelo Section.

This carried on for three years in which time I had to perform my regular

duties during day-time as well as helping the staff outside in the section

after hours and weekends.
