I am assigned as the primary instructor for deliberate and dynamic entry
techniques used by SRTs. Our team trains 30 students during a 2 week
resident course on tactics, weapons, communication and planning for Special
Reaction Team operations at the US Army MP School. Utilizes special
police operational expertise and knowledge of educational and training
principles, techniques, and practices to present instruction in the
following major topics: concepts, organization, and employment of special
reaction teams, non standard weapons employment critical operational
techniques to approach, enter, and move through urban terrain; and
specialized physical and technical skills required of SRT members,
including rappelling, required of law enforcement. Develops, adapts, and
revises lesson plans and training support materials and executes practical
exercises that will meet the training objectives in compliance with the
TRADOC systems approach to training. Travel under orders on traveling
teams to remote areas worldwide, possibly including combat and hostile fire
zones, to conduct training. Maintains rigid risk management system to
ensure training safety. The incumbent will serve as an instructor in
defensive/non-lethal force tactics, room entry tactics, small unit tactics,
physical fitness/wellness, emergency medical care, and suspect apprehension
and control techniques, with responsibility for planning, organizing, and
presenting and/or managing the presentation of one or more of these courses
and for evaluating training effectiveness to ensure that objectives are
met. Currently serves as an authoritative expert for all US Army Special
Reaction Team specialized skills program, force continuum procedures and
for such anti-terrorism topics as domestic and overseas high threat
dignitary protection, improvised explosive device (IED) recognition, room
entry tactics (Close Quarters Battle-CQB), defensive tactics, advanced
firearms tactical applications and physical fitness.
Major Duties:
Plans, organizes, and manages basic and advanced tactical instruction and
other related anti-terrorism topics for both domestic and overseas programs
in all environmental conditions (indoor and outdoor). Tactical topics
include defensive tactics, room entry tactics, vehicle and helicopter
operations, land navigation, small unit tactics, emergency rope operations,
tactical communication, urban warfare operations, basic and advanced
marksmanship applications, live fire and simulated attack scenarios, basic
and advanced anti-terrorism tactics, techniques, and procedures
. Perform Training Safety Officer/role player controller support
tasks
. Reviews established training objectives, lesson plans, training
materials, and instructional methods prior to the beginning of
assigned courses
. Complies with all US Army MP School accreditation standards
. Researches and reviews current intelligence related to the
diplomatic security mission and introduces applicable information
. Resolves problems that occur in the preparation for and during
training
. Evaluates training effectiveness to ensure that training
objectives have been met
. Reviews and analyzes trainee evaluations, feedback from
instructors, and personal observations
. Identifies need for revision to course content and materials or
instructional methods as necessary to improve the training
curriculum effectiveness and quality
. Recommends minor updates/revisions to courses or recommends the
need for a complete curriculum review to the Team Leader/Branch
Chief and or Division Chief
. Develops budget estimates for assigned courses
. Monitors the expenditure of funds to ensure optimum efficiency in
the use of assigned resources
. Participates in curriculum review conferences as a subject matter
expert in small unit tactics, physical fitness/wellness, emergency
medical care, room entry tactics, non-lethal force training,
apprehension, and control techniques
. Assists instructors in other security related subjects
. Provides assistance in conducting practical exercises when needed
. Presents security awareness briefings to a wide range or
audiences, including senior officials
. Establishes and maintains liaison with a broad array of law
enforcement, security, military, government and civilian
organizations interested in or affected by small unit tactics,
physical fitness/wellness, emergency medical care, room entry
tactics, non-lethal force training, apprehension, and control
techniques
. Keeps abreast of current security techniques, methods, and
procedures in small unit tactics, physical fitness/wellness,
emergency medical care, room entry tactics, non-lethal force
training, apprehension, and control techniques through attendance
at training sessions, seminars, and workshops
. Assists in scheduling and planning classes by developing and
maintaining close contact with program coordinators as well as
with other appropriate training entities
. Assigns instructors and role players as needed to assist in
training sessions
. Ensures training is consistent with current legal and liability
restrictions
. Provides security awareness briefings
. Submits training records in a timely manner
. Serve as subject matter expert for the design of new training
. Tests/evaluates new training courses and instructional materials
. Accounts for equipment inventory and maintenance for assigned
training
.
