warehouse style merchandising and sales of household wares, clothing and furnishings. Recruited to the

organization due to seasoned expertise in the retail field and assigned immediately to a major turnaround

situation with a troubled store in suburban South Carolina. Advanced rapidly through the ranks for

outstanding results, being offered District Manager positions consistently since 1995. Gained Reputation

as a corporate troubleshooter called in to orchestrate store conversion process after numerous competitor

buyout scenarios.

Specific Positions and Highlights Include:

Multi-Unit Team Leader (District Manager) –Twenty-two Locations in Virginia & North Carolina

(1995-2007)

Assigned to consolidate two districts into one with a total of twenty-two stores. Rotate between all

locations from a base operation in Portsmouth at least twice monthly to audit performance, conduct

training sessions and conferences, recruit and develop management staff, and ensure conformity to

corporate strategies, policies and game plans. Implemented rolling out Big Lots new Plan-O-Gram

concept in store layout, merchandising and sales operations. Instrumental in the orchestration of furniture

department expansions in 18 stores regionally as well as the elimination of clothing lines in three other

stores. Took over current district in the aftermath of corporate initiative to split the region. Highlights:

District ranked #4 in volume in Company/nationwide.

Multi-Unit Team Leader (District Manager) – Seven Locations in South Carolina (1993-1995)

Assigned to assist the District Manager with a small South Carolina store group for a period. Applied

turnaround expertise in the building of profitability and nurturing of staff for multiple locations prior to

reassignment to the Virginia – North Carolina area.

Store Director: Aggressively recruited to a renowned national retail toy chain. Upon competition of the

company’s first-ever Fast Track Management Training Program, handpicked by the executive team to

orchestrate the opening of a new store in Memphis. Integrally involved in all aspects of the project

including design of a new store in Memphis. Integrally involved in logistics. Hired and trained over 90

cross-functional store personnel, set up and established all policies and procedures, stocked and equipped

facility, orchestrated area marketing, advertising and grand opening essentials, and fulfilled full-charge

store management duties upon successful opening of store. Highlights: Implemented a cost-effective

staffing plan using the learning disabled. Significantly improved stock control plan, streamlining data

accuracy and virtually eliminating out-of-stock problems. Program was subsequently implemented in all

stores in the region.
