The bank then only cashes check that we actually wrote. This
prevents loss through fraud.

* For the project to combine 3 environments, one aspect of this was
combining prescriptions from three areas of the country. We had 2
ways to do this. One would take 15 hours and the other only 5. I
thought we needed the extra checking taking 15 hours. My boss said,
if he could be convinced anyone could be hurt by using the faster
solution, he would let us do the extra checking taking 15 hours.
That night an example was created in which a patient could be given
the wrong prescription and kill him. The longer conversion was
programmed and completed. There may not have been a problem with
the faster solution but if there was it could have cost the company
in lawsuits and reputation.
