Laboratory, Genetics, Calculus I, Calculus Based Physics I & II Lecture and Laboratory
Experience
McCormick & Co., Inc. April 2011 Present
n Laboratory Technician
At McCormick my work comprises the formulation and compounding of liquid flavors and complex seasoning blends. I
n
compound liquid flavors following proprietary formulas and protocols with precise measurement at the mg to kg scale. I
have acquired additional knowledge of natural products including the flavor attributes and impact of components in
product applications, material flow characteristics, etc. I have trained lab technicians as well as management on the
Batchmetrics weighing system. I have also worked in the McCormick Molecular Biology Laboratory on a volunteer basis
investigating the health benefits of spices and herbs. I have prepared media, maintained whole cell assay cultures and
tested samples using PCR, ELISA and microplate readers.
Laboratory Research at Towson University 2009 2010
n As an undergraduate research assistant at Towson University, I researched and tested growth hormone levels in veal.
Working under the guidance of Professor James Saunders we tested for zeranol and trenbolone, purified veal proteins
characterized through an ELISA assay with subsequent fluorometic analysis.
Skills
Familiar with the QIAcube, QIAgility, Rotor Gene Q, Xcel Fit, E Notebook, Janus
n
General chemistry and biology laboratory procedures including: PCR, ELISA, SDS PAGE, gel electrophoresis,
n
centrifugation, pipetting, pH, solution preparation, plate readers and other common laboratory instrumentation
Able to efficiently follow standard laboratory and project specific protocols, good aseptic technique including, culturing,
n
pipetting, plating cells, etc.
Have successfully tutored undergraduate students in math and science
