To Whom It May Concern:
Over the last two years I have been working as a Maintenance Manager at Royal Canin Pet Foods in Guelph. Previous to that I worked at Grand River Foods, Schneider Foods (Maple Leaf) kill plant in St. Mary’s also at Schneider Foods (Maple Leaf) on Courtland Ave. in Kitchener and Maple Leaf Consumer Foods wiener Plant on Brockley Dr. in Hamilton.
I am a graduate of The British Columbia Institute of Technology with an Interprovincial Journeyman Millwright Ticket. I have continued my education by taking seminars and night courses; most recently I have completed the operator B refrigeration coarse. I feel I would be a definite asset to your company’s Management team.
Being the fourth Maintenance Manager in five years at Royal Canin there was a lot to correct in the department. Starting with getting the right associates, CMMS, tools and parts. Then decide where on the ten floors of production would be the best place for the tools and parts. Also arrange which associates would work best together and get them trained as quickly as possible.
In the first nine months at Grand River Foods I have decreased down time by 30%. During my second year at Grand River Foods I oversaw and was responsible for a 10.5 million dollar expansion. Including assisting of hiring and overseeing all contractors and blue print changes while still doing my daily manager duties in the plant. In my last year down time was 5.8% while staying on budget and running 30% more product through the plant.
During my time at St Mary’s I decreased down time by 17% and secured a position within the TOP 10 OF MAPLE LEAFS MAINTENANCE MAMAGMENT REPORT CARD.
I have accomplished this by rescheduling crew start-times, arranging training and establishing machine over hauls in accordance with machine specifications.
Also by designing and overseeing the building and installation of conveyors build by my crew we decrease the amount of product loss. Over the years I have also worked close with Quality control and have successfully passed not only internal but many third party audits. (Sysco, Tim Horton, Silliker, OSHA, CFIA and Mars internal audits.)
Strong interpersonal skills enable me to motivate, teach and work with unionized and non-unionized employees on better and unique ways to improve production on an ongoing basis. Do to my management style I have been able to create lasting work relationships with a number of trusted and loyal work associates in a broad spectrum of maintenance professionals. This has allowed me to bring the best possible resources to any work environment I encounter. I am an enthusiastic individual who works extremely hard to surpass goals and work expectations.
I am very interested in discussing this opportunity with you at your convenience.
Respectfully,
Edward Miller
