PLANNING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Municipal Planning and Economic Development – Attracted UAV testing facility to a city in

Kansas, facilitated mining meetings, and worked with the location of box stores. Developed plans

for tourism facilities, and conducted downtown development, transportation, utilities, zoning, tax

incremental finance, parking, and walkability projects. Also reviewed city departmental plans.

Recreation Planning – Developed a variety of recreation plans for park, city, multistate, and federal

government programs. This included developing the preliminary design for Freedom Park in

Prescott, Wisconsin. The park included the Great River Road Learning Center, part of a multistate

tourism and recreation project. Other recreation planning projects included breakwaters for Fort

Sheridan military base; ball fields, swimming pools, playgrounds, and walking trails for cities;

wildlands plans; and master plans.

ADMINISTRATION

Worked as a city administrator/manager in three states. Also worked as an Executive Director for

an economic development organization in Iowa and a regional planning organization in Michigan.

RESEARCH AND GRANTS

Studies & Analyses – Conducted studies on non-motorized transportation, parking, walkability,

transit, and shared utilities, as well as wetland surveys, and trade area analyses.

Grant Writing – Wrote grants for government and independent entities for economic development

projects. Also instructed groups and individuals on grant writing practices between 2003 and 2004

as an independent consultant.
