materials Management / Project Management/Systems Development
Resourceful innovative professional with over 20 years Materials
Management, Project Management, and Systems Development experience.
Expertise in initiating projects and programs that meet or exceed corporate
budgets and timelines. A True Materials Manager with proven skills in
management, communication, purchasing, negotiations, sales, strategic
planning, shop scheduling, troubleshooting, coordination, initiation, and
cost savings through policies and systems developments that promote a
motivated team-based work atmosphere, that leads to a positive result for
the corporate bottom line.
Selected Responsibilities and Accomplishments
. Managed a staff of Purchasing Agents and Material Planners in various
aircraft maintenance commodities for a major US airline. This included
selecting vendors, negotiating contracts, measuring cost savings and
service levels, recruitment, hiring and training of staff, scheduling
work and activities, establishing policies and procedures, process
improvement, statistical analysis, performance evaluation, and
motivation of employees.
. Successfully managed the merger of two major airline inventories, the
largest airline mergers to date,
(> $100M of inventory) with stock in two major distributions centers,
five regional stockrooms and over thirty airport stockrooms in the US
and Europe. Worked closely with Engineering to determine the merged
inventory compatibility and interchangeability.
. As a Materials Manager, was responsible for Material Planning,
Purchasing, Sourcing, Negotiations, Receiving, Shipping, Warehousing,
Issuing materials, Repair Services, and Warranty support.
. Represented the Material Planning department as the Business
Representative for a complete update of the operating system. Worked
closely with the I.T. Department to enhance existing programs, and
develop new programs. This integrated operating system tracked
inventory from "cradle to grave" and allowed the Material Planners to
utilize the installation and removal history to accurately forecast
inventory levels and appropriate stockrooms. Was responsible to
identify all data to be uploaded, create all training material and
lead the "Train the Trainer" upon system test and implementation.
. Successfully initiated a Surplus Sales Department for a corporate
airline with a surplus inventory valued at over $9M. Developed the
company's sales process and utilized existing Microsoft office
products and the airline inventory system to identify potential
surplus inventory. Advertised this inventory for sale on the surplus
market and coordinated the sales of inventory stocked at four regional
stockrooms.
. Audited stockrooms per FAA guidelines for shelf life, inventory
accuracy, hazardous material storage and FAA documentation.
. Utilized an MAPICS MRP system, established the production schedules,
monitored inventory levels, and tracked progress of the production at
a high-volume manufacturing aerospace and defense company.

and controlled budgets in support of program Materials cost goals.
Supported proposal team efforts for pricing parts lists and labor
efforts for Government contracts.
. Created a Material Planning technical library that housed Parts
catalogues, component maintenance manuals, microfilm, and microfiche.
All technical material was logged and revisions maintained, audited by
Internal Auditors to FAA specifications.
. Partnered with Corporate Logistics personnel to improve inventory
investments by a review of inventories that fell outside the normal
parameters of either Normal or Poisson distribution. This review led
to an additional assignment of some inventories to a Geometric
distribution.
