Set up Safety plans in order to meet provincially mandated Occupational Health and

Safety Regulations Legislation; provided training for approx 120 employees in Nova

Scotia and 20 in Newfoundland, with up to 100 vehicles and 4 boom trucks working in

Worked on wind farm erection sites; my primary job was the safety of all contractors, Crane company’s,

construction contractors, on site evaluation of certifications for all trades, following the General

Contractor’s Program, if there was no program, I would build a program based on the General contractor’s

needs, trained all concerned in the Procedures and Policies related to what the General contractor wanted

on site, Dealt with contractor problems, reviewed all Crane lifts, setups and capacity Charts allowing for

the required safety margins, conducted Safety meetings, Trained all site employees in Electrical safety and

Power Line exclusion zones. Investigated all incidents and made recommendations to prevent

reoccurrence, all the duties of a good safety officer on site.

Maritimes and the north.

As Safety Manager and certified ISO representative, created planned maintenance, established pre

operational check lists and made recommendations for purchasing practices for over 100 machines;

ranging from 5 ton groves to 450 ton hydraulic cranes and up to 660 ton conventional cranes, related

rigging, trucks and equipment

Trained operators for all heavy equipment including testing and preparation for licensing with almost

100% success

Supervised personnel and equipment of crane operation at heavy industrial building sites including oil

platforms, oil refineries, oil pumping platforms, wind farms and mills; creating pre engineered plans for

near capacity lifts, overall safety of personnel, site safety, and provided equipment testing and

certifications as per government regulations and operational standards

Investigated all accidents to root cause then made recommendations to ensure recurrence was cut and

training in new procedures and/or safe work practices for all involved was initiated to reduce or prevent

accidents, reduced the cost per hundred associated with Workers compensation to a fraction.

assessments for new RCMP buildings and other areas of the government works.

Created Safety plans and held safety meetings for companies who were performing work for the Provincial

reporting to WCB and the Department of Labour.

Contracted out to provide auditing, advising and safety training

Liaison between the NSCSA and industry, troubleshooting staffing issues and compliance concerns, also

looked after the many problem areas in the audit processes.

Won the award of “Auditor Advisor of The Year” for all of Nova Scotia
