EXPERIENCE

EMD Serono Research Institute, Billerica, MA

Research Assistant Co-op

July 2013-Present

• Currently working in B-Cell group of Protein Engineering & Antibody Technologies department,

investigating early stage large biological molecules.

• Develop new ELISA assays to validate reagents for new discovery projects.

• Determine serum antibody titer from immunized mice.

• Screen and identify potential binders against different antigens using ELISA in a 96 well plate

format.

• Execute high-throughput antibody or hybridoma screening in-vitro, on cells expressing the target

using flow cytometry. Instrument: Guava easyCyte 6HT

• Perform ELISPOT to detect certain B-cell secreting antigen specific antibodies.

• Assisted in sorting of B-cells using BD FACS Aria III.

• Utilized laboratory automation like Sciclone ALH3000, Tecan evo 150 & epMotion 5075 to

increase throughput.

• Assist in technology and method development to support new antibody discovery projects.

• Maintain, passage and cryopreserve stable and transient transfected cell lines.

• Determine the cell density and viability using the Vicell-XR automated cell counter.

• Analyze data; interpret results and document in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).

• Prepare buffers, growth medium and maintain reagent inventory.

• Follow company safety guidelines, GLP regulations and standard operating procedures.

Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA

Research Assistant Intern

April 2012-April 2013

• Investigated the role of CDK6 in adipogenesis on different strains of transgenic mice

• Isolated mesenchymal stem cells and mouse embryonic fibroblasts, carry out cell culture

experiments. Sub-culture and maintain different cell lines for further analysis and staining.

• Bred, maintained and genotyped mice. Isolated DNA from different mouse tissues and perform

PCR to amplify the specific gene fragments, followed by Agarose gel electrophoresis.

• Studied RNA expression of cells under experimental conditions by RT-PCR

• Executed out small-scale and large-scale plasmid DNA isolation from bacterial cells.

• Used lentivirus vectors to genetically modify cells, expand the gene modified cells in culture.

• Use flow cytometry-based assays to characterize cells.

• Use cell-based assays to assess the functional characteristics of genetically modified cells.
