1991 -10/13 Cytec Industries

WWTP Manager
Cytec Industries operates a 4.0-MGD Biological Treatment facility that
treats a variety of chemical wastes from two independent operating units.
This treatment facility consists of primary and secondary treatment, sludge
processing equipment, a central control room with DCS, and a control lab.
I am responsible for the overall operation of this facility and report to
the Safety Health and Environmental Manager.
Duties/Accomplishments:
- Technical and administrative leadership for treatment operators (Classes
I- IV) and lab technicians which includes training, development and
evaluation.
- Technical evaluation of products in order to optimize the wastewater
treatment processes
- Upgrade instrumentation in WWTP Laboratory to meet more stringent NPDES
permit limits.
- Implementation of LIMS for WWTP Laboratory and Process Control
Operations.
- Optimize solids handling operation
- Process improvements which resulted in the reduction of sludge production
by greater than 50 %
- Achieved energy savings through optimization and upgrade of the WWTP.
- Developed sampling manual to meet NPDES permit requirements
- Implement company safety health and environmental policies within
department
- Reduced operating costs by 3-5% each year through improvements of
chemical usages.
- Consistently achieved compliance with no major upsets of facility
- Preparation and control of a $3 million annual operating budget.
- Supervision and budgetary allocation of engineering projects at the
facility including but not limited to, polymer upgrades, biosolids
handling
- Actively participated in the strategic planning for 2 NPDES permit
renewals.
- Developed engineering plan to address WWTP upsets
- Involved with setting up quality systems to obtain RC 14001
certification.
- Currently involved in automation project and control system upgrade of
WWTP.
1986 -1991 Mattabassett District

Lab Director/Chemist
The Mattabassett District operates a 20 MGD Activated Sludge WWTP treating
domestic as well as industrial wastes. I was responsible for complete
operation of the State Certified Laboratory including testing and
supervision.
Duties/Accomplishments:
-Certification of waste water treatment laboratory by the State Health
Department through implementation of Quality Control Program and extensive
proficiency testing and evaluation by State Officials.
- Supervision of 2 laboratory technicians and other assigned personnel.
- Managed wastewater laboratory.
- Performed routine analysis including, but not limited to pH, COD, BOD,
and TOC, nutrients, Turbidity, SS, MLSS, bacteriological counts and
identification.
1985 -1986 Town of Manchester
Manchester CT
Laboratory Analyst
The Town of Manchester operates a 9.0 MGD waste water treatment facility
and drinking water filtration plant. I was responsible for chemical,
physical and bacteriological analysis of waste water and potable water
supplies. In addition, I performed Quality Control testing to comply with
State and Federal requirements, which involved maintenance of laboratory
records and equipment.

Senior Analytical Technician:
Heublein Inc. operates an R&D facility for it's' food and beverage
industry. I was part of the Technical Services group and responsible for
the following:
- Physical, chemical, and bacteriological analysis of raw materials and
prototypes in the food and beverage division.
- Cost savings and exploratory projects.
- Implementation of new Analytical Methods and Procedures.
