Education
2011– 2013 D.I.T Kevin Street, Dublin 2
Advanced entry second year in Electrical & Control Engineering (DT009)
Results: 2.1 in the Upper Merit class.
Final year project: Design and implementation of a RS -485 network to send and
receive information between a master microcontroller (PIC18f) and two slave
microcontrollers (MSP-430’s). In order for the information to be transmitted
between each node a library of commands had to be constructed along with
associated header files and programs for each node.
Subjects covered
Control and Automation, Instrumentation, Industrial Electronics, Signals and
Systems, Industrial Computing, Project Management, Computer Engineer ing,
Electrical Energy Systems, Electrical Systems, Advanced Eng. Mathematics
2nd year project
W eather Station
This project involved designing and building instruments to measure four
weather variables. The instruments were then connected to a Mitsubis hi FX
PLC and python code was used to import the data into a SQL database. A
website was created using HTML and PHP to display the information saved on
the SQL database.
Robosumo competition
The objective of this project was to design and build a robot over the course of
one semester that will compete in a RoboSumo tournament. A PIC18F was the
microcontroller that was used, along with a selection of sensors to help the
robot stay within the arena and to also find the opponents. Each robot was
assessed based on their position in the competition and also the design and
implementation of the hardware and software. In this competition the team I
was part of placed 3rd out of 42 teams

Interests
I’ve always been a keen participant in many sports activities, mainly GAA, both hurling an d football.
Since I was eight, I’ve been a member of Castletown / Liam Mellows GAA Club and have been proud
to represent my club at County Level through out the years in both hurling and football, including the
W exford Minor Football Team when I was sixteen. Having a high level of fitness has been a great
benefit to me in my work.
