DUTIES
In my 15 years as an Equipment Operator 3 I performed a multitude of tasks.
I was responsible for the safe operation and transport of heavy equipment such as front
loaders, skip loaders, backhoes, hydra hammers, root & stump cutters, street grinders,
pavers and other various equipment.
I was a lead man on crews for 14 years that were responsible for the removal and
replacement of small sections of pushed up, crushed or deteriorated asphalt and
concrete streets, curbs, gutters and sidewalks. I have knowledge of finishing asphalt
and concrete and all associated tools. I am well versed on all related paperwork and
logs.
I was responsible for traffic control during special events such as the Grand Prix, various
parades and other events, as well as assisting police and fire with emergency response
duties related to traffic accidents, criminal activity, transporting evidence, etc.
I am proficient and have great knowledge of traffic safety practices and delineation,
including the freeway.
Working for the city also afforded me the opportunity to enhance my customer service
skills due to my crew leadership duties and daily interaction with the general public.
