I’m a Graphic Designer who has experience in, Healthcare, Educational, Government, Commercial/Retail and Themed Architecture for both United States and international corporate based applications.

I have worked for both large and small design firms such as HMC Architects, Leo A Daly Architects, Gruen Associates, and JPI International Design. Clients of these firms include select healthcare clients of Kaiser Permanente, Loma Linda University Medical Center and Catholic Healthcare West. Select educational clients include various UC campuses, various Cal State University campuses and LAUSD. Select, government clients includes: US Postal, California State, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino County government projects. Company Description: Founded in 1940, HMC has grown to be one of the most prominent designers of healthcare, educational and government facilities in the West, growing largely on the recommendations and accolades of their clients.

Title: Project Designer

Location: Ontario, CA

Responsibilities: Provided a wide-range of new designs for healthcare, educational and government/civic facilities in both exterior and interior design treatments, ranging from minor remodels to major new and historical preservation structures. Work directly with Architects, Director of Design, Medical Planners and Clients to solve complex design problems ranging from large facility master planning to small remodels. Coordinate and produce design presentation material with the design team, maintain the design intent with the design and production team for construction documents. Coordinate with the construction administration of the project and maintain design intent during construction.

Spotlighted Achievements:

As Project Designer, I assisted in a combined effort of over 200 acres of designing various facility master plans, assisted in the design of over ten million square foot of new construction and over three billion dollar estimated construction cost in various healthcare, educational and government market shares.

Instrumental in working on HMC’s potentially largest healthcare project ever. As Project Designer I worked directly with architects, medical planners and client of an estimated 1.5 billion dollar construction cost. I assisted in the master planning efforts of Loma Linda University Medical Center’s CASA Project; Loma Linda CA. the CASA Project includes a New Children’s Hospital and New University Adult Hospital campuses and SB-90 extension. I successfully provided and maintained various complex design options working directly with HMC’s design team and client to reduce the overall cost to $800 million by combining the hospitals and providing a clear new entry with improved medical campus wayfinding.

Participated in and won various international design competitions representing HMC. International design competitions such as; People’s Republic of China, Shunde Hospital - (1st place with contract), and was

Awarded; Finalist’s status for both Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Port and Cruse Service Center Competition and Taiwan Tower International Design Competition.

Participated in the design and maintained the design intent during construction of three new major hospitals in Southern California, making HMC’s Healthcare Studio the largest revenue grossing studio within the firm.

Title: Art Director

Oversee all corporate branding in all visual mediums of HMC Architects. Develop corporate graphics in both print and digital marketing efforts including architectural/interior design proposals, brochures and general marketing material. Commission and coordinate all professional architectural photography and architectural/interior illustrations. Develop and maintain all art work including architectural graphics, architectural illustrations and architectural physical models into a graphic/photographic library. Designed and coordinated environmental graphics for signage for architectural/interior wayfinding.

Spotlighted Achievements:

As HMC quickly grew to a total of 12 offices, I Assisted in development, design and coordination of HMC’s new Corporate Branding efforts including Corporate Logo, Letterheads, Brochures, Proposals, Architectural Presentations and overall graphic standards. I successfully achieved a more unified corporate look between all regional offices.

Art Directed ten full-time employees including disciplines of marketing graphics, architectural graphics, architectural/interior illustrations, selection of fine art and architectural model shop. In the year 2000, HMC ranked as the 16th largest architectural firm in the nation. (ENR July, 2000)

Established an Architectural Photography protocol by selection of professional photographers, providing scout shots, direction and maintaining contracts and copyrights.

Developed and maintained HMC’s image library consisting of professional photography, architectural photography, architectural graphics and architectural/Interior illustration library. I successfully maintained over 40 thousand photographic images.

Responsibilities: Provided a wide-range of new designs for healthcare, educational and government facilities in both exterior and interior design treatments, ranging from minor remodels to major new structures. Work directly with Architects, Director of Design and Senior Designers to solve complex design problems ranging from large facility master planning to small remodels. Coordinate and produce design presentation material with the design team, maintain the design intent with the design and production team for construction documents. Coordinate with the construction administration of the project and maintain design intent during construction.

Within the ten year as Designer, I assisted in a combined effort of over 100 acres in designing various Facility Master Plans, assisted in the design of over three million square foot of new construction approaching one billion dollar construction cost.

Assisted in winning large projects in both architectural and interior RFP’s and SOQ’s. Team efforts provided designs for five major hospitals in the Southern California region and furthering repeat clients such as Kaiser Permanente, Veterans Administration, Catholic Healthcare West and San Antonio Community Hospital.

Book publication on the design of San Antonio Community’s, Southeast Expansion Project. Ontario, The Model Colony; Windsor Publications Inc. 1990, pages 166 to170. I designed the new 40,000 square foot addition to the existing hospital providing architectural graphics and illustrations for publication.

Assisted in HMC’s first international healthcare project: Master Plan Project for the K.J. Somaiya Hospital and Research Center, Bombay, India. Provided facility master plan options, architectural design options and architectural graphics working with architects and medical planners establishing HMC as an International Healthcare Architectural firm.
