BS in Mechanical Engineering, BCET College, Punjab, India (GPA: 3.8/4) 8/2005 – 8/2009

Technical Skills:

Software: Solid works, CREO, ProEngineer, Autodesk Inventor, Matlab, AutoCAD, Lab View, NASTRAN, LS-DYNA, Hyper view.

Programming: C/C++, Mathmatica, Mathcad and Microsoft office

Experience: (Work experience: 1.5 years)

Graduate teaching assistant, Portland State University (1/2012-7/2013)

Teaching assistant for properties of material and analysis of mechanical component class.

Taught how to perform tensile, compression, hardness, fatigue and heat testing on various materials.

Trained two students to be the future teaching assistants after my graduation.

Conducted sessions for student’s doubts about the course and also graded their exams and assignments.

Research assistant: ( Work experience: 1.2 years)

Film thickness prediction (Tribology Lab), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Delhi, INDIA) (10/2009-12/2010)

Analyzed and predicted the film thickness in EHD (Elasto-Hydrodynamic) rolling point contacts, by studying the effects of thickener

structure on Elasto-Hydrodyanmic lubrication films.

Ball Bearings were used to test the effect of thickness at different temperatures and load conditions.

Performed the theoretical analysis of different tribology techniques.

Graduate school projects:

Developed an interface to control and operate a 30 year old microtester by using a computer. (9/2012-8/2013)

Developed and reverse engineered the changes in the microtester, Incorporated PWM H-bridge motor controller in the microtester

to control its motion by the computer, using LabVIEW.

Calculated Destructive, Non-Destructive test displacement measurements to be read by the computer, improved the accuracy by

more than 50%.

3-D and 2-D modeling, Portland State University: (3/2012-8/ 2012)

Modeled an Internal combustion engine and internal components for assembly and performed analysis using ProE

Designed and modeled a heat chamber using sheet metal feature in solid works for CAE analysis that reduced the heat loss to

outside environment by 8%.

Computer Aided Engineering Analysis (CAE), Portland State University:

Mass minimization of Broaching table, Objective was to reduce the energy used in moving the table.

FEA analysis was performed and the FOS was calculated which was more than half before the analysis.

AutoCAD Designing, Portland State University: (Winter 2013)

Created a model car using inventor 3D software, 30 individual components were designed and assembled together.

Prototypes designed & developed - example: Plastic assembly of Pneumatic trolley, Title block, Bracket.

Design dimensions and tolerance values recording in 2D drawings to be used in manufacturing.

Study of Microgravity fluid, Dryden drop tower, Portland State University, (NASA sponsored): (Fall 2012)

Studied the behavior of rocket fuel, oxygen, body fluids. Researched in designing a capillary tube for low gravity.

Test results were utilized to develop hardware for space-based experiments, to refine models for predicting the resource and time

requirements for such tests.

Automotive Stirling Engine (Undergraduate Project) (BCET College, INDIA): (1/2009-7/2009)

Designing a two piston type Stirling engine including the internal components: cylinder wall, flywheel and linkage crank.

Testing the performance of the engine under different temperature and load conditions.

Six Sigma Project Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Undergraduate Summer Internship), India (5/2007-8/2007)

Analyzing the areas for improvement (External and Internal defects, Efficiency/capacity issues).

Studied about control and eventually eliminate all main causes of variation in the manufacturing processes involved.

Professional and Personal Leadership:

Technical head, SAE (BCET college, INDIA), Organized 15 technical paper presentation event.

Hard working, Great team player & enjoy the challenge of taking on new projects
