Served a one-year commitment via JVC Northwest at Nativity House - a
daytime center utilized by adults experiencing homelessness, mental illness
and/or substance abuse in Tacoma, WA; helped prepare and serve meals to
between 75 and 150 guests each day; provided crisis counseling; distributed
clothing; collected and sorted guests' mail; fielded phone calls from
individuals seeking financial assistance; managed weekend church group
volunteers with preparing and serving meals; and provided site security.
JVC Northwest members practice the values of community, simplicity,
spirituality and social justice.
