Experience:
Savor Smith Lisle, IL **/** to Present
President and Co-Owner
. The lab at MPR Services was being moved from Dickinson, Texas to
Phoenix, AZ
. I took this opportunity to pursue my interest in brewing.
. Graduated from the WBA International Diploma in Brewing Technology
Program.
. This informational experience convinced me that I was undercapitalized
and I should pursue my technical career.
MPR Services Dickinson, TX 09/05 to 12/12
Technical Manager
. MPR Services provided services for cleaning gas treating solutions in
refineries
. Managed a Ph.D. research scientist, lab supervisor with four lab
scientists/technician, and clerk.
. Sales support to find services to improve customer operations. This
included development in surfactant removal / foam reduction, color
removal, and treatment of other circulating solutions.
. Over saw chemical analysis for the mobile unit operations support, and
permanent unit support.
. Involved in analytical development to improve MPR services analysis
and processes
. Played an important role as management and researcher to bring
electrocoagulation oilfield water treatment subsidiary (ECS Inc.) to
MPR Services
. Reported to the Vice President of Technology.
. Publications: Lawrence Reid Conference, Brimstone Symposium, Gas
Processors Association Conference, MPR Technical Bulletins
Contract Experience:
DuPont Houston, TX 06/05 to 08/05
. Physical analysis of copper fungicides.
Duratherm San Leon, TX 09/04 to 5/05
Wet chemical analysis incoming shipments of petroleum refinery wastes.
DuPont LaPorte, TX 09/02 to 01/03
. Researched the oxidation of the acetaldehyde impurity in the polyvinyl
alcohol plant recycled solvent stream.
Merichem Houston, TX 03/01 to 11/01
. Researched new production methods of cobalt phthalocyanine oxidation
catalysts.
. Odor reduction of naphthenic acid.
ExxonMobil Baytown, TX 12/97 to 11/00
. Ran lab scale and pilot plant support for low temperature cationic co-
polymerizations.
. Investigated of metal alkyl initiators and chlorohydrocarbon co-
initiators that increased polymerization efficiency in successful
plant tests.
. Identified and quantified brominated impurities that would result from
changes to the plant solvents. This information was used to develop a
pilot plant tests for bromination.
Education:
Purdue University
Ph.D., Inorganic Chemistry
. Synthesis and mechanistic studies of main group organometallic
chemistry. This research focused on the preparation, characterization,
and reactivity of tin aryloxide and alkoxide complexes.
. Research showed that the tin of the molecule would perform an internal
carbon-hydrogen insertion reaction to the pendant aromatic molecule.
This formed a new tin-carbon bond and a heterocyclic ring.
. The mechanism for tin's insertion into an aromatic carbon-hydrogen
bond was implied to be electrophilic aromatic substitution.
. The resulting tin-carbon bonds could be reacted to yield uniquely
ortho substituted phenol and phenyl substituted alcohols.
