Deployment Engineer

The Engineering and Deployment of Equipment for both Cell Backhaul and

Metro Ethernet projects through Comcast's NETO (National Engineering and

Technical Operations) Division.

. Deployment of telecom equipment to both cell sites and in customer

. Worked hands on alongside local market technicians to help turn cell

sites up by testing fiber connectivity, installing Cisco Small Form-

Factor Pluggable (SFP) Transceiver into Ciena 311V's (Service

Delivery Switch) also plugging in appropriate fibers so sites can be

turned up and tested before being handed over to the customers.

. Responsible helping my assigned local markets in any way possible to

ensure towers and MSC's were built, turned up, tested and handed over

to customer.

. Markets responsible for included Baltimore, Atlanta, Washington,

Chicago, Indiana, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Greater

Boston.

. Performed full audits of all equipment and fiber on the entire Comcast

backbone. Reports entailed all rack elevations front and rear drawn on

Netzoom 11, a spread sheet on each fiber run, all electrical

information and connection information also a detailed list all extra

equipment left onsite.

. Prepared full rack elevations showing all deployed equipment using

Netzoom11 for all Sprint MSC builds and Verizon Wireless Martha's

Vineyard build.

. Equipment deployed consisted mostly of Juniper mx960 routers,

Ethernet/IP transport gear, Ciena LE-311v Service Delivery Switch,

Minara XFP 50GHz full C-band tunable OTN XFP Module with integrated

G.709 framer, OAM and Forward Error Correction and Cisco Small Form-

Factor Pluggable (SFP) Transceiver, Cisco 2911 Intergraded Service

Routers, Brix Verifier 3000, Telec GMT fuse panels, ADC patch panels,

DWDM panels and Corning OSP fiber panels.

Duties included the process of FIOS Engineering Work Order completion

packages, known as, (Redlines). These packages include all the necessary

documentation the NCA requires to perform the detailed review, analysis and

corrections to create the network elements necessary to deploy FIOS. This

process requires the knowledge and use of the following systems:

- IDDS - (Integrated Digital Drafting System) - Mechanized AUTO CAD

Engineering records and drafting system.

- ICGS (Integrated Computer Graphic System) - Data base system that

contains all OSP (Outside Plant) network elements.

- Peoplesoft - Corporate Accounting System that inventories all OSP

Investments.

- Microsoft Excel - Used to tract various administrative reports.

- Asset Verification - Used to ensure that the Corporate Assets are

recorded accurately.

- IVAP - used to record the customer assignment data so FIOS service

orders can be generated.

- VBUILD - Web based application for tracking the building of the OSP

elements.

This entailed Documentation of Site Surveys and Fiber Optic Engineering

Plans, placement of FDH's, FDP's & Fiber cables, also assigning fibers

along the way, for all jobs aerial and buried. Drawing revisions of jobs,

using the programs VISEO and ECRIS Print Manager (a Fiber Tracking System).

Riding jobs with the Splice & Line Foreman for the construction approval

before handing it off to construction to build. Ensuring all equipment and

network additions were completed on time and within budget.

OSP ENGINEER/ PROJECT MANAGER (FTTP)

Engineered new FTTP (fiber to the premise) for Verizon. This entailed

documentation of site surveys, Fiber Optic Engineering Plans, the placement

pf FDH's (fiber distribution hubs), FDP's (fiber distribution panels) also

different sized fiber cables, assigning fibers along the way, using VISEO

to draw out the site plans. Ensuring equipment and network additions were

completed on time and within budget.

Engineer.

OSP-INsight Project Manager

Led a team responsible for successfully placing the company's entire

network into a OSP-Insight, MapInfo based graphics/database program. This

involved the inventory of all network elements: fiber optic cable,

transmission equipment and associated frames, buildings, risers, conduit,

manholes, etc.

Project also included linking all associated splice drawings to their

respective manholes, enclosures and LGX panels. Mapped all cables from

their equipment terminations to LGX panel and jack assignments. This system

is used for tracking network troubles by the NOC (National Operations

Center).

Conducted Site Surveys and created detailed drawings for city approvals and

permits. Responsible for supervising construction crews for all new fiber

optic cable jobs from point of entry to fiber terminations at customer

locations and common space areas in buildings in all five boroughs in New

York.

Supervised on site fusion splicing and construction crews.
