Responsibilities:

North South Railway (NSR) - 2,400 kilometers (1,491 mi) long railway project in KSA.

Additional Railway projects, East-West alignments, Branches and Facilities.

In charge of the review and approval of preliminary/final design and construction documents

prepared by local and multinational consultants for bridges, underpasses, overpasses, service

buildings, and associated civil and hydraulic structures for a fast track high speed passenger

and conventional heavy freight railway project. Extensive report writing and evaluation of

tender documents for future projects, as well as shop drawings and as-built documents for

close out of current contracts. The scope required providing In house multi discipline

Engineering services (review, coordination, assessment, etc) at owner's headquarters (Saudi

Railways, SAR), including on-going and future contracts. Extensive use of AREMA,

AASHTO, ACI, AISC, and Saudi codes as well as European railway codes (Eurocodes,

Spanish, etc).

The work also included the review and update of design guidelines and manuals in addition

to providing training to local engineering staff. The Project includes numerous concrete (cast

in place and precast concrete) support structures, bridges, culverts, hydraulic structures as

well as 6 large passenger stations. The design and construction is being carried out by

different consortia composed of local, regional and international companies.

Concession Project AEGEAN Motorway S.A. Hellenic Republic, Ministry of Public

Works –

Independent Engineer Contract for the “Design-Construction-Financing-Operation-

maintenance-Exploitation PATHE – Section Maliakos-Kleidi” Toll Motorway; a private 200

km motorway in northern Greece including 26 bridges, 10 service stations and 11 kilometres

of new tunnels. Approximately €1 billion design and construction budget. (In partnership

with PARSONS Transportation Group)

Concession Project EKPPT Motorway S.A. Hellenic Republic, Ministry of Public Works –

Independent Engineer Contract for the “Design-Construction-Financing-Operation-

maintenance-Exploitation of the Elefsina-Korinthos-Patras-Pyrgos-Tsakona” Toll Motorway;

a private 350 km motorway in central western Greece including the widening, expansion and

extension of an existing highway and the design/construction of more than 100 new bridges,

underpasses, culverts, service stations and 20+ km of new tunnels. Approximately €2 billion

design and construction budget. (In partnership with SETEC France).

In charge of the review and approval of structural preliminary and final design and

construction documents for bridges, underpasses, overpasses, service buildings, and

associated civil and hydraulic structures for 2 private highway “design, build and operate”

projects. Project Design manuals, Eurocodes, DIN, and local seismic design codes were used.

The design approval process included coordination, review and acceptance of other discipline

packages such as hydraulic, civil, electromechanical, etc. Responsibilities required direct

cooperation and scheduling with other discipline leaders for the investigation and verification

of structural preliminary and final design and construction packages. Structural elements

included bridges, underpasses, overpasses, service buildings, and associated civil and

hydraulic and drainage structures.

Al Ghantoot Development – Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.)

Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., Ministry of Public Works, International Capital Trading

Urban planning, Architecture and Civil engineering design of a new Town development

(approx. 20 km2 1st phase total 60 km2 ). The project involves the construction of a city with a

commercial centre, hotels, office blocks, residential developments, warehousing and light

industrial areas. The project has been designed according to AASHTO, ACI, AISC, ASCE and

British standards. (Project on hold).

Structural Design director for the conceptual, preliminary and final design of several medium

and long span post tensioned box girder bridges and associated structures throughout the

development and connecting to the Dubai-Abu Dhabi E 11 highway.

Limassol Marina, Cyprus. Government of Cyprus and private developers.

Senior Structural Engineer responsible for reviewing structural design package conceptual,

preliminary and final design documents (drawings, reports, budgets, schedules, etc).

Design Management services for the £350 million Marina development project, will have

apartments, villas, restaurants, bars, fashionable shops and leisure facilities. The marina will

have 650 berths for yachts from 8m to 100m superyachts, dry docks, refueling, crew

facilities, yacht provisioning and 24-hour security.

Senior Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

Responsible for all Engineering activities such as design, planning, scheduling,

documentation (mocs, task plans, hiras, etc) as well as on site client coordination and on site

supervision.

Anguille Power cable PG2 - Installation of a combined power 33Kv and fibre optic cable

from 1km offshore up to 700m on shore. The scope required the burial of the cable from

offshore into a newly constructed power plant at the PG2 Port Gentil Total Gabon production

site; the deep trenching (2 to 3m+) and burial required working under numerous active gas

and oil pipelines. The project was part of the Anguille Field Redevelopment program being

carried out by Total Gabon ($190 million 3rd quarter 2011) to expand, modernize and

renovate existing production facilities in the Republic of Gabon. The project involved close

coordination and cooperation between 3 marine services contractors; Maritech, CTC Marine

Projects (UK)and SBM Offshore N.V. (Monaco), for the production and management of all

relevant project documentation, procedures, schedules, mocs, hiras, etc as well as direct site

supervision.

Responsibilities:

Preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and final construction documents (structural analysis,

technical reports, construction budgets and steel and concrete framing/reinforcement

drawings) for different types of structural elements. Supervision of design team in addition to

providing instruction and guidance to junior Engineers. The work involved the finite element

analysis of numerous underground (tunnel, cut & cover, retaining wall, etc) structures in

different rock and soil conditions. The structures were part of different expansion projects for

Greek government transit authorities. The transit and bridge & highway infrastructure

projects included the design of miscellaneous concrete and steel bridge, culvert, underpass,

and service and maintenance structures. All designs were done according to local seismic and

construction codes, German DIN codes and Eurocodes.

drawings) for numerous transit infrastructure projects. Coordination of work with other

disciplines, client representatives, Value Engineering, etc.

1. Second Avenue Subway, NYC MTA, New York, NY (USA).

Responsible for the conceptual design of 7 cut and cover subway stations for the new 8 mile

(12.9 Km) long (total 15 Stations) Second Avenue subway in Manhattan. Worked in direct

coordination with transportation system specialists (Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineers

and Architects) in a joint venture environment (DMJM+Harris & Arup NY).

2. Philadelphia Market Street Elevated MSE, SEPTA Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

(USA).

Task Engineer in charge of the structural design and preparation of construction documents

for new steel and concrete framed station buildings and platforms along a rebuilt elevated

track line (6.5km; 7 stations) responsible for the supervision of several Engineers and CAD

staff, as well as the coordination with in house staff and sub consultants such as transit,

bridge and civil Engineers, Architects and M/E Engineers.

3. Port Authority Allegheny County NSC, Pennsylvania (USA):

Task leader for the structural design of 4 Light Rail Stations along a new underground and

elevated line for Pittsburgh’s new North Shore Connector (NSC) line. The structural work

for the underground stations included extensive coordination with the tunnel engineering

team. Responsibilities were similar to MSE project.

4. WMATA Expansion, Washington, D.C.:

Structural Task leader for the structural assessment of the Washington Metropolitan Transit

Authority system renovation and expansion. The scope required the investigation of field

conditions, as-built drawings and proposed architectural schemes in order to determine

feasibility and cost of proposed Architectural modifications to numerous existing transit

facilities. The work included extensive structural analysis of existing underground stations

and tunnel systems.

5. Seraya 2 Sea Water Intake-Cooling Water Outfall Structure, Singapore.

Structural Engineer responsible for the design of the offshore steel framed gate support and

catwalk system for the Seraya-2 sea water intake cooling basin. The work required the

completion of preliminary analysis, as well as the fast track preparation of construction

documents in accordance with British and International marine structures standards.

Worked directly with the Architectural staff on the design development of these two

structures as well as other parts of the project.

2. A. Benitez International Airport, Santiago, Chile.

Assisted in the preparation of an engineering and financial feasibility study for the

expansion project. The work included the review of construction documents, such as

drawings, specs, construction budget and schedule. Additional tasks involved meeting with

government officials, contractors, and airport officials, as well as preparing the portion of

the report concerning the completeness of the structural and architectural drawings and the

adequacy of the construction budget.

3. Dulles International Airport, Washington, D.C.

Member of the design team for the main terminal renovation and expansion. My

responsibilities required the structural analysis and design of numerous concrete and steel

areas of the project. The work also included preparing construction drawings and details.

4. Interim Terminal at the Washington D.C. National Airport (USA).

Worked on the fast-track renovation of the terminal. I assisted in the

structural inspection of the existing facilities and prepared

preliminary structural drawings. I was also involved the investigation of the load capacity of

the existing reinforced concrete frame structure.

5. New York School Construction Authority Infrastructure, New York (USA).

Inspected the structural integrity of several (15+) New York City School buildings as part of

a system wide inspection and condition assessment project for the NY School Construction

Authority. The work included the condition assessment (inspection, interviews, etc) of

structural systems (concrete and masonry) of structures 20 to 70+ years old; along with the

production of comprehensive structural reports including recommendations for

rehabilitation and associated cost budget.
